Job Summary
The Senior Application Developer for SouthStar Energy Technology within Gas Technology will be responsible for production support and development projects of SouthStar Energy applications, websites and web services. This position will leverage their technical and data expertise, company, product and industry knowledge to provide secure, resilient, and adaptive solutions for the business owners and their customers. This position will implement strategies and initiatives to enhance existing system capabilities to meet new business directives. This position will provide support and influence through active participation in customer activities and leveraging technical and business resources from across the organization to ensure the timely delivery and support of effective business solutions. This position will execute application lifecycle strategic plans, change management and communication plans. They will work with limited supervision and is expected that they will become a subject matter expert with deep technical knowledge within the SouthStar Energy Technology team. This role will complete projects which will include standard development using a variety of languages, web-based technologies, cognitive services and integration technologies.
Senior Application Developer – Essential Duties Include

Responsible for production support and modifications for all application solutions impacting the SouthStar’s application environments.

Responsible for the development of and execution of application lifecycle strategic plans for the business, including new solutions development, assessment of options from vendors, etc., owning the results/solutions from end-to-end.

Serves as the subject matter/system expert for the SSE applications and will be the representative with strategic technology partners and vendors.

Adheres to Change Management protocol to develop and execute plans for application or business process impacts due to operational or project activity.

Resolves quality issues, working across IT and the business as needed.

Responsible for ensuring the SDLC process is followed for all technology solutions for the business.

Participates in disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

Responsible for the successful delivery of configuration changes (i.e., code, databases, network, etc.) to ensure a stable application computing platform exists.

Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, audits, and change management controls.
-
Establishes and maintains strong partnerships/working relationships with other areas of IT, SSE, business organizations, external vendors, and suppliers.

Works with other Technology Organization departments to understand business needs & project timelines, and ensures appropriate allocation of resources to meet demand. Ensures alignment with Technology Organization goals and strategies

Collaborate with junior team members to plan for coding and overall program development. Support and mentor less experienced personnel.

Develop technology solutions and corresponding documentation to highly complex problems using deep technical expertise and creativity. Create and drive completion of Technical Design documents.

Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt it to new hardware, or to upgrade interfaces and improve performance based on specifications, with supervision.

Troubleshoot, debug, maintain and improve existing software.

Plan and participate in system testing as required.

Plan and participate in deployment activities to implement designed solutions.

Maintain and follow production support processes focused on identification and mitigation of root cause.

Skills/Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Business, or other related field.

5 to 8 years’ experience working with application development methodologies/processes and technologies within the Retail and Commercial Gas business application footprint.

Experience with application development and delivery as well as selection, procurement, and integration of third-party package and custom technology products.

Comprehensive experience working with application development methodologies/processes and technologies is required.

Proven track record of achieving measurable business results working with and through others, including geographically dispersed teams.
