Overview
Possess general knowledge of arena operations and equipment. Serve in a working/supervisory capacity when the arena offices are closed, dealing with our customer base which is comprised of students, staff, faculty as well as the general public. Participate in a variety of maintenance/improvements and custodial duties in the Cheel Center/Arena. Maintain ice and arena maintenance involving driving the Zamboni/edger/lifts and other painting duties, power tools and equipment. 12 month position
Responsibilities
• Supervision of Arena during all ice rentals/Intramurals after arena office is closed
• Assist in supervision of all set-up for events
• Maintain ice surface to highest extent by insuring clean safe conditions (edge, spud and shave /flood ice, take ice measurements, evaluate boards/glass/netting)
• Prepare surface to whitewash, install all ice, lines/logo's
• Blow out and inspect electric motors monthly
• Perform daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annually and annual maintenance as described in the Zamboni Maintenance Manual
• Operate Zamboni (heavy equipment) in safe condition, change blades weekly, maintain battery levels, recognize and trouble shoot potential mechanical problems that may arise through operation
• Perform maintenance in Cheel Center/Arena that may include painting, minor repair and improvements
• Assist in opening/closing of facility and assist in energy management
• Cleaning responsibilities include all area's in arena and related area's to the highest standard
• Provide supervision/support/guidance to all students workers on daily basis
• Maintain inventory of all tools, cleaning supplies, paint and parts for arena
• Assist custodians in Cheel Center when needed
• Report/Call all injuries to students, spectators, rental groups to campus safety and leave pertinent information for Director to facility
• May be required to sharpen skates or repair when needed

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting in carrying out the maintenance processes of the property, including corrective, preventative, routine, emergency, and cosmetic maintenance. The Maintenance Technician is also responsible for the make-ready process in a manner consistent with the property’s operational objectives under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and Community Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Community Maintenance
- Regular/daily onsite attendance is required
- Respond to resident/management requests and work orders for community common areas, buildings, and units in a timely manner
- Ensure all repairs and replacements necessary for community common areas and units
- Assist with the scheduling and performance of all maintenance/repair-related turn events
- Assist in the daily clean up of the exterior of the community, including grounds, breezeways, and all common areas
- Perform swimming pool maintenance and cleaning and maintain accurate, timely chemical logs
- Inspect grounds, buildings, and other community features daily to daily to identify, minimize and correct hazardous property conditions or liability concerns
- Maintain preventative maintenance program that extends the life of the community while minimizing future repairs
- Responsible for understanding and following Asset key policy
- Maintain well-organized and properly stocked maintenance shop while adhering to safety standards and OSHA guidelines

Job Responsibilities:
- Perform Maintenance: Service equipment per manufacturer, federal, state, and insurance requirements; complete maintenance logs and records.
- Troubleshoot Issues: Quickly address malfunctions, test machines, and inspect equipment and buildings.
- Documentation: Record all work performed, manage work orders for billing, and maintain historical records.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Regularly test equipment, notify supervisors of abnormalities, and follow technical manuals for proper procedures.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety policies, maintain clean work areas, use PPE, and follow company uniform and conduct standards.
- Inventory and Training: Check inventory, attend training, and stay updated with trade publications.
- Guest and Staff Support: Assist guests with equipment issues, and support other departments as needed.
- Emergency Preparedness: Know the locations of critical systems and maintain hot tub areas and Saflok systems.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
Driving:
- Have a valid Driver's license and ability to pass the Snowshoe Driving Program
Preferred Experience:
- 2 years as a maintenance worker or similar vocational certification
- May require lifting and moving up to 75 pounds.
