As an AI Engineer at QXO, you will design, build, and operate intelligent agent systems that bring automation and intelligence to our platforms. Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate AI agents that integrate with APIs, data sources, and QXO’s core platforms.
- Implement frameworks for orchestration, memory, and evaluation of multi-step AI reasoning.
- Fine-tune and optimize large language models for task-specific use cases.
- Deploy and monitor AI systems in production environments with a focus on reliability, safety, and scalability.
- Collaborate with product and design teams to deliver intuitive, AI-powered user experiences.
- Write clean, efficient, and testable code in support of shared libraries and platform components.
- Participate in design and code reviews, continuously improving system quality and operational excellence.
- Contribute to defining best practices for AI evaluation, observability, and responsible use.
Qualifications & Skills
- 3+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
- Strong programming skills in Python and at least one of Java, Go, or TypeScript.
- Experience building applications with large language models (OpenAI, Anthropic, Llama, Mistral, etc.).
- Familiarity with agent frameworks (LangChain, AutoGen, Semantic Kernel, Haystack, CrewAI) and vector databases (FAISS, Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus).
- Solid knowledge of data structures, algorithms, system design, and distributed systems.
- Experience deploying and maintaining systems in cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working cross-functionally.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience shipping AI-powered products into production.
- Knowledge of evaluation frameworks for agent reliability, bias, and safety.
- Experience with event-driven architectures, APIs, or workflow automation.

**What is Graduate Researcher Program?**
The GRP (Graduate Researcher Program) is a unique 10-12 week internship program designed specifically for students pursuing their PhD. GRP is a hybrid experience of real-world industry work experience combined with development programming that exposes students to Boeing, its products, services and its people. GRP focuses on deeply connecting students to their team and Boeing through work experience across multiple summers with the goal of ultimately offering a full-time position at the conclusion of academic studies if a mutual fit is achieved.
**How GRP Works** :
GRP host teams post opportunities aligned with Boeing needs in hopes of matching to top PhD talent. Upon application and selection, successful applicants receive an offer to spend the following summer with the host team. The program aims to provide interns with a valuable opportunity to gain deeper experience at Boeing with their host team, while applying academic skills and expertise to help solve real-world industry challenges and opportunities.
In addition to industry work exposure, students will attend GRP programming to further broaden their experience and knowledge of Boeing. GRP programming includes: mentorship in your field of study, weekly _Featured Speaker Talks_ , a week-long in-person _GRP Summit_ , participation in an _Innovation Challenge_ , and other opportunities to interact and build a professional network with other GRP students, Boeing team members, and leadership.
Please note: The work you do at Boeing can be related to your area of study, but _cannot_ contribute or be used in your PhD thesis.

**2026 GRP Position** :
The Boeing AI organization provides innovative AI technologies that enable the development of future aerospace solutions while improving the cycle time, cost, quality and performance of existing Boeing products and services.
Employees work in a dynamic and distributed environment where the initiative and contribution of each team member is critical to success. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a distributed (and international) team. Many projects are multi-year and end with the successful transition and integration of new capabilities to Boeing end-product deployment. Project work can be funded by Independent Research and Development, Contracted Research and Development, or support to an internal Business Unit.
A successful candidate will be a highly motivated Artificial Intelligence Software Engineer with software development, AI application, and machine learning knowledge. They will have experience with Generative AI, native mobile application (iOS/Android), and web-based solution development in an agile environment. They will participate in the research and development as well as the rapid prototyping of advanced computing technologies for aerospace products and services.
They will be comfortable in taking initiative, learning by experience, possess an interest in personal learning, seek feedback from others, and create innovative ideas. They will get great satisfaction in applying and engineering solutions that will work in the real world. This job will be located in Tukwila WA.
**This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.**

**Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):**
+ Completed the first year of PhD studies by July 2026
+ Pursing a PhD in Data Science, Applied Math, Software Engineering or similar
+ Experience preparing data for, developing and evaluating learned models
+ Experience with programming languages and data tools such as Python, Matlab, C++, C or Java as well as SQL, Teradata, Tableau, Gephi or Airflow.
+ Enrolled student attending a college or university with an expected graduation date on or after August 2026
+ Ability to work full-time for 10-12 weeks during Summer 2026
**Preferred Qualifications** :
+ 1+ years relevant experience including jobs, internships, and assistantships
+ Experience with Machine Learning development and deployment pipeline, i.e. from data to model
+ Experience with Agile methodology and repositories, such as ADO, JIRA and Git
