RAYUS Radiology is looking for a Registered Nurse to join our team. This is a PRN role, providing service to our McKinney, Plano, and Richardson Centers.
Essential DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(85%) Patient Care
- Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding, and reduce apprehension
- Screens patient prior to procedure for any precautions or contra-indications
- Educates patient and family about pre, intra, and post procedure care
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments (i.e. contrasts and sedations) in accordance with approved standards and regulations for care
- Prepares equipment and aids Physician during treatment and examination of patient
- Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient
- Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or Physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents
- Monitors patient conditions including vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient
- Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol
- Documents patient history and physical assessment for assigned patients
- Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or clinic policy including patient and family instruction
(10%) Department Support
- Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities
- Assists in establishing, evaluating and updating patient care standards
- Maintains patient monitoring equipment and nursing equipment
- Maintains medication reconciliation for expired supplies
- Completes weekly AED & monthly crash-cart check offs
- Keeps daily temperature logs of medication fridge and blanket warmer
- Maintains istat log monthly, and upon receipt of new cartridges
(5%) Performs other duties as assigned
Required:
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Registered Nurse with current appropriate state license
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
- BLS and ACLS
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or clinic

SandyPines Residential Treatment Center is a 149 bed Residential Psychiatric Facility servicing children and adolescents ages 5 to 17. The facility is located in beautiful sub-tropical South Florida and is nestled beside Jonathan Dickinson Sate Park which creates a rustic, roomy outdoor atmosphere. SandyPines is at the county line of both Palm Beach and Martin Counties and is just minutes away from the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.
Qualifications
Responsibilities :
The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide primary care coordination for patients and implement a collaborative care plan as prescribed by the physician and treatment team. Duties include: Assess mental health needs; develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes, plan and evaluate nursing care; administer and/or monitor the effects and side effects of medications and treatments ordered by a physician; to ensure safety and provide consistent therapeutic milieu management and crisis intervention strategies.
Job Requirements :
- Education: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing and or bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of two (2) years' experience in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred.
- Licensure: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida, BLS.
- Additional Requirements: CPR certification and successful completion of restraining procedures training (Handle with Care) within 30 days of employment. Understanding of The Joint Commission (TJC), OSHA and state and federal regulatory requirements.
- Must be able to prioritize workload and effectively multi-task in a fast paced environment.
- Excellent listening and communication skills. Focus on providing high quality patient care.
Move efficiently enough to meet the needs of several patients and/or move rapidly to provide timely intervention of patient aggression. Able to stand, sit and walk during work shift. Able to hear spoken words in a normal vocal range, respond to signals, alarms, codes or other displays. Recognize vocal intonation that signal changes in acuity. Able to bend, reach and stoop. Must write legibly so as to accurately convey information. Able to read instructions and complete documentation and reports. Restrain, as part of a team, an aggressive patient in a safe and therapeutic manner. Able to lift, position or move patients in order to perform (or assist in) searches and procedures, and/or administer injections. Perform activities requiring manual dexterity. Able to lift 30 lbs.
