This Commodity Implementation (CI) Buyer position will be responsible for purchasing commodities that help support the Ford EV revolution. Position will entail responsibilities on delivering excellence on Ford’s Hybrid and Battery Electric Vehicles. This position is hybrid with 3 days a week in Dearborn. The candidate can expect to interact with supplier contacts primarily in North America, but could potentially be from other regions of the world. The candidate will also interact with internal Ford personnel in North America, Europe, China, as well as CAF (Ford/Changan joint venture) and Ford Otosan.

Lead the creation and implementation of comprehensive commodity strategies that align to business objectives.

Work with global counterparts (Europe and China) to develop and maintain commodity strategy.

Conduct in-depth cost analysis of supply chains, identifying cost drivers, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.

Lead the process to source commodities meeting or exceeding program targets of quality, cost, and timing.

Develop sourcing strategies, issue and analyze all requests for information and requests for quotation.

Drive data transparency from the supply base to support fact-based negotiations to deliver cost targets.

Understand physical details of the parts, supplier manufacturing processes, supplier costs, and cost gaps to internal cost estimates.

Oversee the negotiation, execution, and administration of supplier contracts, ensuring all terms and conditions are clearly defined and aligned with organizational objectives.

Cultivate and sustain strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers, demonstrating a deep understanding of their business needs, challenges, and opportunities.

Treat suppliers with respect while holding them accountable for all aspects of delivery (product quality, cost, delivery, warranty, etc.)

Communicate and establish strong relationships with Electrified Systems Engineering counterparts to understand their needs and needs of the programs.

This Commodity Implementation (CI) Buyer position will be responsible for purchasing commodities that help support the Ford EV revolution. Position will entail responsibilities on delivering excellence on Ford's Hybrid and Battery Electric Vehicles. This position is hybrid with 3 days a week in Dearborn. The candidate can expect to interact with supplier contacts primarily in North America, but could potentially be from other regions of the world. The candidate will also interact with internal Ford personnel in North America, Europe, China, as well as CAF (Ford/Changan joint venture) and Ford Otosan.
ResponsibilitiesIn this position, you will
- Lead the creation and implementation of comprehensive commodity strategies that align to business objectives.
- Work with global counterparts (Europe and China) to develop and maintain commodity strategy.
- Conduct in-depth cost analysis of supply chains, identifying cost drivers, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Lead the process to source commodities meeting or exceeding program targets of quality, cost, and timing.
- Develop sourcing strategies, issue and analyze all requests for information and requests for quotation.
- Drive data transparency from the supply base to support fact-based negotiations to deliver cost targets.
- Understand physical details of the parts, supplier manufacturing processes, supplier costs, and cost gaps to internal cost estimates.
- Oversee the negotiation, execution, and administration of supplier contracts, ensuring all terms and conditions are clearly defined and aligned with organizational objectives.
- Cultivate and sustain strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers, demonstrating a deep understanding of their business needs, challenges, and opportunities.
- Treat suppliers with respect while holding them accountable for all aspects of delivery (product quality, cost, delivery, warranty, etc.)
- Communicate and establish strong relationships with Electrified Systems Engineering counterparts to understand their needs and needs of the programs.
- Work closely with finance, purchasing, product development, and program leadership teams to develop actionable insights and cost-saving strategies.
- Act as a leader within Ford and assist others within the Supply Chain Management group as needed.
- Provide support to the in-production Supply Chain Business Solutions purchasing team.
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management or related field. Minimum 7 years of commodity purchasing experience. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required Purchasing policy and process knowledge with experience using Purchasing tools and systems.
