Duties : Actively partner with Corporate Data Strategy and Governance and other corporate technology divisions to design and implement solutions to extract and integrate data to and from data warehouses, data marts, and data lakes to provide reports, decision support and driving insights. Identify, investigate, and resolve data discrepancies by finding the root cause of issues. Work with partners across various cross-functional teams to prevent future issue occurrences. Proactively look for opportunities to optimize the data loading structure and develop new approaches to improve the onboarding and integrity of the data. Provide basic reporting and respond to inquiries asking for insights about the data sets from stakeholders. Ensure that data is clean, consistent, and synchronized across platforms, and oversee the design and implementation of data cleansing procedures. Represent area on projects and be a key player in meetings with all levels of management. Act as a mentor to team members and the Foundational Business on all technical issues.

Education & Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Information Science, Economics, Computer Science

or

related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus two (2) years of experience as a Data Engineer, Database Manager, or related occupation interpreting, analyzing and building data products using SQL or Python to help in strategic decision making. Specific skills/other requirements - Must also possess the following (quantitative experience requirements not applicable to this section): Utilizing SQL or Python to transform, manipulate and preprocess large datasets of structured and unstructured data from various sources to conduct data quality assurance, exploratory analysis and inform business decisions; Utilizing Redshift, Hadoop, or Snowflake to design and optimize complex SQL queries in addition to maintaining and implementing data pipelines; Utilizing Python, R or other statistical tools to manipulate large data sets, perform statistical analysis, transform datasets and design automated reports; Sourcing and organizing data from multiple platforms or data sources for reporting and insights; and performing root cause analysis and resolving performance bottlenecks.

**Compensation Overview**
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

**What Is the Opportunity?**
Travelers Data Engineering team constructs pipelines that contextualize and provide easy access to data by the entire enterprise. As a Senior Associate Data Engineer you will help guide growth and transformation of our analytics landscape. You will leverage your ability to design, build and deploy data solutions that capture, explore, transform, and utilize data to support Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and business intelligence/insights.

**What Will You Do?**
+ Build and operationalize data solutions, correct problems, apply transformations, and recommend data cleansing/quality solutions.
+ Participate in the design of data solutions.
+ Analyze sources to determine value and recommend data to include in analytical processes.
+ Incorporate core data management competencies including data governance, data security and data quality.
+ Partner and collaborate with team and business users to support delivery and educate end users on data products/analytic environment.
+ Perform data and system analysis, assessment and resolution for defects and incidents of moderate complexity and correct as appropriate.
+ Test data movement, transformation code, and data components.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.

+ Bachelor's Degree in STEM related field or equivalent.
+ Five years of related experience.
+ Developing knowledge of tools, techniques, and manipulation including Cloud platforms, programming languages and software engineering practices.
