Athletic Program Coordinator

Ensure that the goals of the CYO athletic program are carried out as part of the faith building efforts of a comprehensive ministry to youth, within the framework of the Diocese of Cleveland CYO Charter and Bylaws. Organize and coordinate a variety of duties in the assigned programs and operations of the CYO athletic program.

Under direction, ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision and values of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland.

Responsibilities:

  • Education and Training that will include the following as assigned: Coaches Development Program; Coach's Meetings; Site Personnel training Site Director's; Scorers; Timers; Clinic Operations
  • CYO Program Operations that will include as assigned: site visits and Site personnel supervision; CYO Championship Tournament assignments; Conflict Management; Program Supply and Inventory management
  • CYO Sport and Program leadership as assigned
  • CYO Administrative Responsibilities that will include incident management as assigned, staff meetings and related tasks, scheduling of contests and officials, financial administration according to Catholic Charities policies and procedures, and contest facility administration.
  • Attend and coordinate meetings with coaches, site supervisors, officials and athletic staff.
  • Assist in the preparation of statistical reports, collating information, budget preparation, and other athletic reports, as assigned
  • Assist with acquiring facilities and proper facility administration for CYO programming.
  • Prepare internet-based team competition schedules and/or game official schedules, according to the practices of the CYO.
  • Facilitate needed changes to the competition schedules and official schedules that arise during the course of the season.
  • Visit and attend game sites regularly. At sites, be visible and available to volunteers; evaluate site directors, conditions of the facilities, scorers, timers and officials.
  • Maintain positive image and relationships with site representatives, coaches, parents, spectators, officials, and participants.
  • Assist with the organization and implementation of post season play.
  • Assist in the evaluation of the CYO program.

Requirements:

  • Must be organized, detail oriented and have the ability to maintain confidentiality and work as part of a team in an effort to complete program assignments.
  • Must have advanced computer skills and internet access to access email and web-based program management system.
  • Must have the ability to work independently to meet established deadlines while observing the practices of the CYO.

DUTIES:
  1. Responsible for following the SBCSC schedule and adding additional games to the schedule whenever possible to ensure additional skill development and game opportunities for our large teams.
  2. Hire officials, athletic trainers, and security as needed and ensure the proper supervision of all home events.
  3. Provide leadership in the recruitment, selection, assignment, and evaluation of athletic coaches along with the administration.
  4. Communicate use of the facilities and all maintenance issues with the engineering staff as well as the corporation Buildings & Grounds department to ensure safe, quality playing conditions.
  5. Foster strong relationships and partnerships with community organizations in order to provide additional opportunities and resources to LaSalle Academy.
  6. Assist in the development of and supervise compliance with all rules and regulations that govern the sports teams. This includes the national sport governing body rules, the SBCSC rules, the school code of conduct, the athletic code of conduct and the individual team rules.
  7. Maintain and update the athletics website with schedules, extra opportunities, rules, and other events that come up, etc.
  8. Work with the coaching staff and maintenance personnel to maintain and improve all playing areas and equipment.
  9. Fundraise for and manage the athletics department budget with the approval of administration.
  10. Run parent meetings for all sports and communicate on a regular basis with parents about changes or concerns. (Website, Lion's Roar, Dialer, etc.)
  11. Help recruit, improve and maintain quality student-athletes within the school. Athletes are expected to be strong students in the classroom, behave appropriately, and gain skill development for academics, athletics and life.
  12. Arrange transportation to away athletic contests and for the daily after school activity buses.
  13. Provide paperwork to athletes, turn in paperwork reports to SBCSC athletics department, and keep detailed records of all paperwork required by SBCSC in a neat and organized manner.
  14. Arrange for ticket takers, officials, proper equipment, field maintenance, and water for all home events.
  15. Organize sports banquets to honor athletes and celebrate their experiences.
  16. The athletic coordinator should strive for improvement through increased knowledge, skill development, and taking advantage of opportunities available for athletic coordinator growth.
  17. Must work with a variety of individuals and stakeholders in order to maintain and improve the programs.
  18. Good decision making skills are vital to an efficient athletics program. The athletic coordinator must know when to communicate information to the administrators or others; must make sound decisions on weather based items; and prove to make decisions that are in the best interest of the LaSalle Community as a whole.

Performs and maintains inventory/property management.

Makes recommendations that impact the departmental budget.

Manages the budget within assigned unit/division.

Interprets and promotes the athletic program to the community.

Maintains adequate and correct records and reports.

Supervises safety measures on all athletic activities.

Punctuality and attendance are essential.

Reports directly to the Parks and Recreation Director.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Exercise Physiology, or other related field required; One to Two years of progressively responsible experience in Recreation Planning, Leisure Activities Organization, Park Management, or a related field. Knowledge of the philosophy of recreation and the different activities which make up the community recreation program. Supervisory experience desired with the ability to enlist the best efforts of a staff of employees to do the required work effectively. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Are you passionate about sports medicine and looking for a dynamic role where you can make a real impact? Fairview is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer & Clinic Coordinator to join our top-tier Sports Medicine Clinics in Edina and St. Paul!
This is a hybrid role-you'll provide direct care in the community while also supporting our orthopedic and sports medicine clinics alongside a team of expert physicians and healthcare professionals. This role will be 72 hours ppd (.9 FTE), Day/Evening shifts and requires one weekend per month.
**An athletic trainer working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in a specialized orthopedic and musculoskeletal clinic, this individual is responsible for safe and effective direct delivery of patient care including triage and coordination of care ranging from patient evaluation, care delivery, assessment, and discharge planning in collaboration with a physician. Care delivery responsibilities include and are not limited to casting, bracing, and instruction in self-care and home exercise programs**
**Responsibilities:**
+ Perform rooming procedures, including taking vitals, and detailed medical history.
+ Prepare patients and supplies for injection or other medical interventions such as x-ray and musculoskeletal ultrasound. Assist in facilitating appropriate referral to medical personnel including X-ray, lab, athletic training, physical therapy, hand therapy, chiropractic, primary care, and specialist physician services.
+ Perform patient assessment including concussion baseline testing and post injury assessment. Provide concussion education to patients and family in partnership with provider.
+ Educate patient and/or family member in self-care, including home exercise program instruction, as directed by provider. Communicate proper follow-up care to patients, family, and any other medical support personnel in clinic, on the phone and in written form.
+ Apply appropriate casting and bracing devices.
+ Understand all staff members' responsibilities so they have the ability to move from one role to another in a seamless manner.
+ Manages provider schedules daily by working with scheduling staff to ensure patients timely access and creates access for acute injuries. Identify opportunities to improve workflows by being engaged in change improvement and focused on the work environment and patient experience.
**Required Qualifications**
+ Board of Certification Certified Athletic Trainer upon hire Upon Hire
+ Athletic Trainer Cert with the MN Board of Medical Practice Upon Hire
+ CPR Upon Hire or
+ Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) Upon Hire
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ 3 years experience as an athletic trainer or combination of athletic training and other healthcare work such as CMA, Nursing Assistant, PT, PTA, LPN
+ Membership of the National Athletic Training Association
