Job Description:

The Civil Designer is responsible for drafting, editing and preparing various documents and design solutions to support the Engineering, Real Estate, Legal and Construction departments that drive RaceTrac's C-store development. This individual provides support for in-house staff and outside consultants that prepare or manage the detailed engineering and legal processes associated with acquisition, disposition and/or development of commercial real estate.

Responsibilities:

• Provides timely and accurate design solutions based on objective criteria provided by RaceTrac and RaceTrac's consultants.
• Interprets design documents such as ALTA/ACSM Boundary Surveys, Topographical Surveys, Legal Descriptions, Property Exhibits, Civil Plans, and Reports provided by others.
• Interacts with multiple internal and external business partners to produce Preliminary Site Plans, Contract Exhibits, Civil Site Plans, Grading Plans, Boundary & Easement Exhibits, etc. using AutoCAD and/or other Civil Design Software to create quality digital documents.
• Standardizes the design document preparation and distribution processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Prioritizes individual tasks/assignments from multiple internal clients based on critical dates and task complexity.
• Effectively communicates and disseminates information to internal and external clients.
• Facilitates one-on-one meetings to communicate ideas effectively to internal clients.
• Occasionally acts as Design Standards Administrator, including but not limited to tasks such as updating and/or creating RaceTrac & RaceWay standard details, AnyTown Plans, Order Form Templates, etc. as well as communicating and disseminating the information to internal clients.
• Occasionally acts as AutoCAD Support Administrator, including but not limited to tasks such as creating and/or updating Custom Blocks, Lisp Routines, Commands, Design Templates, Layer Standards, Plot Styles, etc. and distributes information and support files to other Civil Designers.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in surveying, Civil or Environmental engineering required
• 2+ years' experience using Autodesk Civil3d 2020 or more recent, used in conjunction with civil engineering or surveying projects, required
• Field experience on construction sites or pre-construction processes preferred
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required
• Experience using Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, required
• Experience using document management software preferred

**This Opportunity**
WSP is currently initiating a search for a **Junior Autodesk Civil Designer** for our **US Mine Waste Civil Design and Drafting Team** based in our **Reno, NV** office. Be involved in projects with our Mining group and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.
In this role you will work under general to minimal supervision to provide technical design and CADD support on projects to produce designs and specifications to be used for planning, transportation, infrastructure, and technical services business lines. Tasks may include developing skills and generating CADD designs on various assigned projects of basic complexity. Generates accurate and concise design phase deliverables including reports, technical memoranda, design manuals, plans and profiles, models, sections, details, specifications, and material lists. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, accuracy, and functionality.
**Your Impact**
+ Modify and develop drawing packages (plans, profiles, sections, and details, etc.) primarily in civil design; including complex earthworks, mining (tailings, heap leach pad, waste rock stockpile design, reclamation), stormwater and surface-water controls, groundwater science, landfill design and remediation, and civil infrastructure in the power sector and water treatment facilities, as directed by the Team Leader, team members, and/or project engineer.
+ Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and be committed to team approach and outcomes. Engage with key project stakeholders to understand constraints and identify opportunities for innovative design, ensuring your work aligns with project objectives.
+ Spearhead the delivery of innovative design solutions by leveraging your expertise in three-dimensional modeling across a wide range of civil and geotechnical engineering projects.
+ Manage production of multiple drawings and multiple projects at the same time; using good judgment to identify alternatives to assist in the resolution of design problems; taking limited information from the engineers and creating high level design packages; and manage time efficiently which includes planning, organizing, prioritizing, and following through on a variety of tasks to meet deadlines.
+ Resourcing other CADD team members to assist in completing project deliverables.
+ Support the business on project activities ranging from feasibility to detailed design.
+ Provide quality control of drafting and design plans related to company CADD standards, filing and workflows throughout the scope of the project.
+ Under general supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, concepts, blueprints, schematics, data, verbal or written specifications, technical drawings, rough sketches, diagrams, and other matrices to support drafting and design activities for single, multi-phase, or multi-site project work.
+ Under general supervision, use 3D computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) software to assist with basic design details and prepare drawings which require a high degree of precision.
+ Provide basic technical design assistance that accounts for the proper illustration, fit form, and function using geometric dimensioning, tolerance and quantity calculations, while ensuring the construction and maintainability of designs according to design standard specifications.
+ Assist with verifying calculations, design, change orders, interpretation of contract plans and specifications, and escalating any issues or technical problems for appropriate resolution.
+ Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
+ Assure plans adhere to city code, state and federal regulations.
+ Prepare multiple versions of designs for review by engineer.
+ Ensure the specification of dimensions, materials, and procedures for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
+ Work collaboratively with the engineer-in-charge and other technical professionals on assigned project phases, segments, checks, and tasks.
+ Complete training on assigned tasks.
+ Exhibit basic knowledge of current drafting and design support practices.
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
**Who You Are**
Required Qualifications
+ High School Diploma.
+ 1-4 years of relevant post education experience in Civil Design and Geotechnical engineering projects.
+ Proficiency in three-dimensional modeling, particularly utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D 2023 or newer.
+ With an emphasis on using modern and efficient tools and workflows within AutoCAD and Civil 3D is a priority (e.g., external references, annotative object, sheet sets, surfaces, alignments, profiles, cogo points, data shortcuts, etc.)
+ Familiar with drafting and design support principles, practices, process, methods and techniques.
+ Familiar with relevant codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
+ Excellent research and evaluation skills with analytical mindset.
+ Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
+ Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies.
+ Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
+ Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools.

Job Description:
Using Autodesk Moldflow computer aided engineering simulation software, this position will be responsible for recommending injection molded part design modifications, optimization of injection mold design and molding process conditions, and provide technical support for injection molded part issues such as failures due to short shot, warpage, cracking, and tolerances. The successful candidate should be knowledgeable in injection molded part design, injection mold design, polymers and injection molding processing and part inspection procedures. This position requires close interaction with Part Designers, Component Engineers, Development Engineers, Designers and external customers. In addition, the person in this position will act as a mentor of plastics engineering principles and part design to Development Engineers and Designers.

Qualifications:
* A minimum of a B.S. degree in Plastics Engineering, Polymers Engineering or Mechanical Engineering required
* 5+ years experience in injection molding field using Autodesk Moldflow software required
* Autodesk Moldflow Expert (previously Gold) Certification preferred
* Experience with injection molding field, plastics engineering including flow simulation, plastic part design, and injection mold design
* Demonstrated understanding and successful application of plastics engineering principles
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
* Demonstrated ability to interface with all levels of the organization
* Experience in creating/modifying 3D solid models in NX is preferred, but not necessary
