Overview
Emulation & Prototyping Methodology & Automation Expert in the Advanced Chip Engineering (ACE) organization. You will develop methodology, flows and tools to improve efficiency and quality of pre-silicon emulation and prototyping platforms for SoC and IP verification, validation and software teams. You will act as a technical lead, collaborating with architecture, IP/SoC design, verification, validation and SW teams to architect, design and develop state-of-the-art methodology and automation for emulation and prototyping, leveraging your VLSI, emulation & prototyping experience, programming skills and internal/external EDA tools and libraries.
This role sits within ACE "Design Methodologies and Automation", a cross-functional team responsible for developing methodology and automation to improve end-to-end design, verification, emulation and implementation of IP, Sub-Systems and SoCs for Automotive Processors and Advanced microcontrollers.
The right candidate will work in a fast-paced engineering environment on leading-edge advanced node technologies enabling automated building of exciting and complex SoCs. You will collaborate with Architecture, IP design, SoC Design, Verification, Implementation and Design Enablement teams to drive new ways of working, improve current processes, address design quality challenges, and continuously improve NXP Semiconductors emulation and prototyping flows. You will work on actual designs and implementations to pilot and develop automation, applying extensive experience in emulation & prototyping methodology and VLSI CAD software development to deliver solutions.
Responsibilities- Work closely with Architecture teams, IP and SoC designers and SoC Implementation teams from multiple sites to develop advanced methodology and automation for emulation and prototyping to enable pre-silicon validation and software development.
- Develop and manage multiple automations based on various software languages and frameworks.
- Learn, enhance, and support existing products.
- Demonstrate strong software and CAD background in daily activities.

Cross functional aspects- Collaborate with multiple NXP Engineering teams, including Architecture, IP & SoC design, verification and emulation functions, to coordinate and drive new initiatives and ways of working.
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline with strong software development background.
- Strong background and experience with emulation platforms like Veloce, Zebu, Palladium.
- Deep understanding of FPGA prototyping using Xilinx FPGAs.
- 10+ years of experience developing complex software projects; hands-on programming in Python & C++.
- Hands-on experience in Unix/Linux, revision control (Git, Bitbucket or similar), software development and debugging tools.
- Good understanding of HDL: SystemVerilog, Verilog, VHDL; front-end design, emulation and FPGA Place & Route flows and tools.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving skills; strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong understanding of design, layout, constraints (SDC, Clocks, CDC, RDC), Static Timing Analysis, low-power and power-aware flows (UPF).
- Data structures, algorithms and software development for optimization problems; experience with VLSI CAD methodology and tool development.

- BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience with Altium is a plus.
- Experience managing product lifecycle of Test Automation Systems including requirements, design, build, integration, and deployment.
- Experience in developing test and validation strategies.
- Experience in developing test automation from component level to system level.
This role supports Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and is part of a Test Engineering team with 65 members. The position involves working on programs such as Roadrunner, Ghost, Anvil, and Fury. The opportunity offers the chance to work on state-of-the-art technology supporting the defense of the U.S., alongside talented and driven engineers across various domains, including mechanical, firmware, and software.
