In this position, you will create innovative, responsive solutions to a wide variety of machine control applications. We apply a common “toolbox” of components to create custom solutions for a wide variety of applications. You will develop projects from customer discovery; through UL508a control panel design; to PLC, HMI, Motion, and Network programming; through validation and startup at the customer’s location. Most projects are completed in less than six weeks, and startups are usually day trips. Individual initiative, a dedication to quality, and a sense of pride in one’s workmanship are critical. As a member of our engineering team, you will work cooperatively with the principal engineer, other engineers, draftspeople, project managers, and production technicians on a wide variety of interesting and challenging projects. The ideal candidate loves writing clean, elegant code from a blank slate. A lifelong learner or student mindset is essential, as is the ability to be flexible and willing to try on new roles in the process.

Qualification and Skills:

Demonstrated mastery of IEC 61131-3 PLC programming, with an emphasis on Structured Text and Ladder

Adherence to Automation Solutions' standardized conventions and guidelines

Demonstrated a willingness and ability to write disciplined, organized and well-documented code

Fluent in ANSI Y32.2/IEEE and IEC electrical schematic symbols and layouts

Fluent in ANSI/ISA S5.1 P&ID process schematics symbols and layouts

Ability to design control panels up to 480V/3 to UL508A and NFPA79 standards

Expert proficiency implementing/troubleshooting PLCs, HMI, motion control, servo systems, and industrial sensors

Experience with industrial networks such as Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP, CANopen, and J1939

Demonstrated excellent customer service skills and an ability to calmly guide our customers through the startup process.

Experience commissioning and troubleshooting automation systems

Flexibility in using new or specialized standardized conventions and guidelines

What you will do:

  • Collaborate with senior engineers to identify, development, and deploy process automation systems and digital solutions.
  • Support early 'New Product Introduction' activities including Design for Manufacturing engagements to shape Raytheon products and automation solutions.
  • Develop system-level requirements, specifications, and documentation to support automation initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize automated systems and capabilities to enhance performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Support implementation of emerging IIOT technologies to ensure Raytheon remains at the cutting edge of manufacturing innovation.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires BS in an Engineering field or the sciences (STEM) with minimum 2+ years of experience in manufacturing operations/engineering, systems engineering, controls engineering, and/or automation engineering; or an advanced STEM degree in Engineering.

Job Description Are you ready to be part of a team that values safety, continuous improvement, quality, and employee well-being? CHEP is looking for a motivated Automation Technician I - 2nd Shift to join our team in Wilmington, MA!

As a proactive team member, working varying shifts, the Automation Technician I is responsible for performing and managing plant maintenance programs under the direction of the Plant Manager. Maintenance activities must ensure that employee s health and safety, product safety, and the protection of the environment are never compromised, and that all maintenance activities enhance product quality, plant performance and business priorities.

About the Role:

Maintain plant equipment and machinery to ensure optimal working condition while driving continuous improvements aligned with operational priorities.

Perform timely and effective root cause analysis to resolve equipment failures, enhancing efficiency, quality, and overall reliability.

Assist in diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues across a range of plant equipment, including conveyors, pallet handling systems, and other manufacturing machinery.

Key Responsibilities may include:

  • Perform proactive and reactive maintenance activities with a multi-skilled approach, ensuring strict adherence to health and safety protocols at all times.
  • Support the site's reliability initiatives by identifying failure modes, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to improve equipment performance.
  • Assist in scheduling and executing maintenance tasks, ensuring proper documentation of work orders and tasks to maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Actively seek opportunities to improve maintenance processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and contributing to overall plant performance.
  • Conduct risk assessments for all tasks using site-specific or dynamic risk assessment procedures to ensure the safety of both equipment and personnel.
  • Prioritize employee health and safety, product quality, and environmental protection in all maintenance activities, ensuring all efforts contribute to improved plant performance and reliability.

Experience - What you will bring 

2nd shift: 3:30pm to 12:00am, Monday to Friday

  • 3-5 years of experience in industrial machine maintenance. 

  • Ability to read and use mechanical and electrical schematics for troubleshooting. 

  • Understanding of and ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical system components such as motors, variable AC drives, PLCs, and field sensors. 

  • Preventative and corrective Maintenance on conveyance equipment.

  • Ability to climb steps over conveyor system, work in tight spaces as well as at heights. 

  • Ability to use and navigate MS office and internet applications.

  • Knowledge of OSHA and Control of Hazardous Energy procedures and regulations. 

  • Ability to use Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). 

Skills & Knowledge 

Electrical  

  • Control panels and power cabinets. 

  • 3 phase 480-volt power systems. 

  • Rockwell Automation Compact Logic (RSLogix 5000) 

  • Ethernet IP networks, EthernetIP on machine devices and VFDs

  • Yaskawa, Fanuc or Kuka robot experience

  • NEC 70E Electrical Safety 

Mechanical Knowledge  

  • Chain Drive Live Roller Conveyor and Belt Conveyor systems 

  • Hydraulics pumps and circuits

  • Air compressors 

  • Pneumatic circuits valves

Responsibilities:
Engineering Levels II & III (3-5+ years relevant experience)

  • Programs applications in accordance with DMC programming standards and best practices to meet and exceed customer requirements
  • Commissions solutions at customer sites (domestic/international travel as needed), troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems
  • Works with most industrial PLC/HMI/SCADA platforms (Siemens, Rockwell, Ignition, etc.)
  • Continuously learns relevant technologies with guidance, gaining knowledge in sales, business development, and project processes
  • Supports system architecture design, performs engineering tasks at all stages, and takes on both leading and supporting roles

Requirements:
Engineering Levels II & III (3-5+ years relevant experience)

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering (or related field)
  • Minimum GPA of 3.4
  • Proficient in programming, including text-based languages and object-oriented concepts
  • Quickly learns new technologies, understands complex systems, and builds on established patterns and models
  • Efficiently manages multiple projects, works directly with customers, and responds to their needs
  • Experience designing projects in industrial automation systems (e.g. PLCs, Motion Control, Process Control, HMI, SCADA, Robots, Machine Vision, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop project proposals
  • 20-35% travel required, with additional benefits for higher travel commitment

Compensation:
Starting compensation is based on industry, relevant experience and location standards.

Role Summary

In this role, you’ll be part of the team responsible for functional validation and testing of Rivian and Volkswagen Group’s electronic control units (ECUs) including telematics, infotainment, battery management, ADAS, and zonal Electronic Control Units (ECUs). Our team builds custom automated test solutions that include internal-facing software, low-level firmware, data management platforms, and custom electromechanical hardware. These solutions get deployed internally within R|V Tech and at external labs and contract manufacturing facilities.

You will be an individual contributor with a multi-disciplinary role leading the implementation of vertical test solutions for ECUs for design characterization, validation, and manufacturing. The primary responsibility of this role is to own the technical aspects of one or more test automation projects, from requirements gathering to successful deployment and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects that track the development of automated test solutions for ECUs, from test requirements to deployment.
  • Work with the electronics design teams to define test requirements and agree on testing strategies.
  • Provide system requirements to the software and hardware automation teams, based on the specifications of a given ECU.
  • Develop custom test sequences in Python following software engineering best practices and our standard automation framework.
  • Create well documented test cases and operating procedures for test systems.
  • Lead the deployment process of test equipment using GR&R, CPK, stress test, fault injection, etc., at contract manufacturers and at Rivian
  • Work with validation, reliability, EMC, and product launch teams to ensure that the test solutions meet their requirements.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS or equivalent work experience in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant working experience designing automated test equipment (ATE) for electronics.
  • Ability to read electrical circuits and schematics, navigate PCB layouts, and understand manufacturer’s product data sheets.
  • Experience working in the automotive, semiconductor, or aerospace industries.
  • Familiarity with vehicle communication protocols (CAN, CAN-FD, DoIP, Automotive Ethernet, LIN, etc.).
  • Experience with industrial buses and protocols (USB, VISA, GPIB, Ethernet, Serial, RS-485, SPI, I2C etc).
  • Experience supporting deployment of automated test equipment in manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with automation instrumentation such as programmable power supplies, multiplexers, DMMs, signal analyzers, signal generators, multifunction devices (digital and analog).
  • Solid experience programming in Python.

Nice To Have

  • Experience with databases and data management tools like SQL, Databricks, or Apache Superset.
  • Experience designing custom PCBAs.
  • Experience with camera interfaces and RF equipment.

Pay Disclosure
Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Tustin, California Based Applicants: $107,000 - $142,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

My client is a Fortune 100 company that actively is seeking Building Automation Controls Systems Specialist. My client seek Building Automation professionals who can troubleshoot, install, service or program Building Automation Systems.

The Controls Technician will program, install, troubleshoot and providing engineering assistance on building automation projects and service calls.

Responsibilities:
• Programming experience in Tridium or other controls systems.
• Install controllers, sensors, and actuators.
• Field verifies proper operation of all control devices.
• Troubleshooting existing installations. Could troubleshoot down to the component level.
• Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area.
• Discuss automation system malfunctions with customers to isolate problems or to verify that malfunctions have been corrected.
• Record and report all faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences, as well as the time and materials expended on work orders.
• Study blueprints, design specifications, and manufacturers' recommendations to ascertain the configuration of heating or cooling equipment components and to ensure the proper installation of components.
• Run and terminate low voltage wiring and cabling as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Qualified individuals will have 3 plus years of experience programming and installing building automation systems.
