Candidates in this role will gain valuable engineering experience in the area of aircraft avionics and electrical systems including requirements capture, design, validation, troubleshooting, and qualification/certification. Working with managers and key players in Engineering, Candidates will assist in the development of crucial systems on Textron Aviation Defense and Special Missions products. **JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:**
Prepare engineering drawings for avionics and electrical systems including but not limited to interface wiring diagrams and harness assemblies using computer based drafting tools (CATIA/CCD, Siemens Capital/Mentor Graphics, and/or IAI HarnesSys)Utilize electronic test equipment to verify avionics and electrical systems meet design requirements, and/or for system troubleshooting in the lab and/or on aircraftPrepare engineering trade studies, functional test procedures, certification plans, ground and flight test plans, certification reports, and other engineering documentsWrite technical descriptions of subject matter pertinent to design or test requirements. Our client, a leading aviation services provider, is seeking a skilled Aircraft Maintenance Technician specializing in Avionics for their Chicago facility. This critical role involves the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of aircraft avionics systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of aircraft electrical systems, navigation equipment, communication systems, and flight control computers. You will be responsible for ensuring all avionics work is performed in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer specifications, and company procedures. The ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics is essential.

- Perform routine and non-routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on aircraft avionics systems.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose faults in navigation, communication, autopilot, and other electronic systems.
- Install, test, and calibrate avionics equipment and related components.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and maintenance instructions.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all maintenance performed, including parts used and time spent.
- Ensure compliance with all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and airworthiness directives.
- Work closely with flight crews and other maintenance personnel to ensure timely aircraft turnaround.
- Identify and order necessary parts and materials for avionics repairs and installations.
- Participate in the development and implementation of improved maintenance procedures.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree in Avionics or a related technical field is preferred.
- Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license.
- FAA Avionics (8610-2) authorization or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Avionics Technician on similar aircraft types.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing a wide range of avionics systems.
- Ability to read and understand complex technical documentation and schematics.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Familiarity with quality control procedures and safety standards in aviation maintenance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an AOA badge and pass a background check.

- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, test equipment, and hand tools.
