Chenega Agile Real-Time Solutions (CARS) is seeking a **AWS/Azure Cloud Engineer** to lead cloud-based engineering solutions for the FCC. This role drives the design, security, and performance of infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) solutions. This is a remote role.
**Responsibilities**
+ Architect and implement secure, scalable AWS or Azure systems
+ Automate provisioning, monitoring, and backup tasks
+ Collaborate with developers, security teams, and DevOps resources
+ Lead performance tuning, patching, and incident response
+ Maintain compliance with federal security and operational policies
+ Other duties as assigned
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience; or
+ Associate and 6+ years of relevant experience; or
+ High School and 8+ years of relevant experience
+ Experience to include:
+ Demonstrated experience with large scale IT service contracts, including oversight of cross-functional teams, service delivery, and performance monitoring
+ Active AWS Solutions Architect or Azure Solutions Architect (Required)
+ Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain Public Trust Clearance

We are actively hiring a Cloud Engineer with TS/SCI clearance and polygraph to join our Enterprise Services & Solutions Division working in Annapolis Junction, MD.

In this role you will provide cloud software development/engineering services to include requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution. You will work on a software development program proving software development engineering strategies for environments using Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), Map Reduce, and other related cloud technologies. You will provide set-up, configuration, and software installation for development, test, and production systems. Interface directly with development team as well as system end users. You will review and test infrastructure components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. You will resolve reported system issues. You will utilize infrastructure engineering and research design methodologies appropriate to the development/test/production environments. You will provide specific input to the component system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, system reuses, use of COTS/GOTS, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual systems components with particular emphasis on complex networking topics.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution, modify software and algorithms designed for traditional environments to operate in cloud environments; Provide support to platforms and services based on Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other commercial cloud hosting environments; Support the transition of operational systems and applications from traditional platforms to cloud environments, support cloud-related data management tools and OpenSource (NoSQL) products such as Hbase, CloudBase / Acumulo, and Big Table; Convert existing algorithms or develop new algorithms to utilize the Map Reduce programming model and technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, and Pig; Support operational systems utilizing the HDFS; Support the deployment of operational systems and applications in a cloud environment; Conduct scalability assessments of Cloud-related algorithms, applications, and systems to identify performance bottlenecks and areas for improvement

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph

Six (6) years of experience in software development/engineering in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

Four (4) years of experience in software development on systems utilizing cloud-related technologies.

Deploying, automating, maintaining, and managing cloud-based production, pre-production and dev environments, to ensure the availability, performance, scalability and security of environments.

Build, release, and configuration management of the above environments.

Pre-production Acceptance Testing to help assure the quality of our products / services.

Ensuring 24/7 system uptimes.

Ensuring smooth 24/7 CI/CD and DevOps.

Design, implement, and execute Backup and Recovery and Business Continuity processes.

Design, implement, and execute security standards.

System troubleshooting and problem solving across platform and application domains.

Suggesting architecture improvements, recommending process improvements.

Evaluate new technology options and vendor products.

Ensuring critical system security using best-in-class cloud security solutions.

Monitor maintenance and outages, assess impact, and develop strategies to minimize impact.

Create and follow up on AWS / Azure support tickets.

Required Skills and Experience:

At least 3+ years' experience with using a broad range of cloud technologies (e.g. EC2, ECR, ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS, ELB, EFS, EBD, S3, VPC, SNS, SQS, SES, CloudWatch, Route 53) to develop and maintain a range of Amazon AWS based and/or Microsoft Azure based cloud solution, with an emphasis on best practice cloud security.

Core experience as a DevOps Engineer in a 24x7 uptime Amazon AWS / Microsoft Azure environment, including automation experience with configuration management tools.

Monitoring Tools: Experience with machine-generated big data searching, monitoring and analysis using tools such as Splunk.

Strong experience in the CI/CD pipeline using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, SonarQube, Maven, TwistLock etc. Special emphasis on integrating the tools to form the pipeline.

Linux and Windows system administration.

Understanding network topologies and common network protocols and services (DNS, HTTP(S), SSH, FTP, SMTP).

Problem Solving: Ability to analyze and resolve complex infrastructure resource and application deployment issues.

Strong scripting (e.g., CDK, CloudFormation, TerraForm etc.) and automation skills.

Certification:

AWS or Azure technical certification.

Desired Skills (Not essential but beneficial to have):

OO Programming Skills: Strong OO Programming skills (Java or C#).

DB Skills: Basic DB administration experience (Oracle, SQL Server). Experience with NoSQL DBs

Agile Methodologies: Experience with Agile project management methodologies.
