The Organization
North Los Angeles County Regional Center “NLACRC” is a private, non-profit agency that is contracted with the State of California, Department of Developmental Services, to provide services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. NLACRC is one of the largest regional centers in California and has proudly served the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, and Antelope Valley since 1974. We serve individuals across the lifespan from infants and toddlers, school age children, transition-age youth, to adults and aging adults.
Supervision
Receives general supervision from the Behavioral Services Supervisor.
The Position and Job Summary

- Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to provide consultation to staff on consumer services issues and needs and provides clinical recommendations.
- Serves as liaison/consultant to outside agencies, as assigned.
- Assists in problem resolution with service providers or outside agencies. May resolve any issues between vendors and families.
- Observes consumer environment, reviews records, makes program recommendations.
- Conducts consumer clinical observations in one or more of the following settings: regional center, private homes, family homes, group homes, day programs or other field settings.
- Provides training to regional center or service provider staff, as assigned.
- Creates and maintains accurate consumer records in Sandis regarding recommendations, using a variety of tracking systems.
- Reviews behavior reports and consults with Consumer Services Coordinators and/or vendors regarding reports and service related concerns.
- As needed, works with Clinical Psychologist regarding consumer diagnosis and medications required.
- Provides expert testimony in due process proceedings as relevant to behavior analysis and scope of expertise.
- Ability to travel to visit consumers and other parties on a timely basis, using reliable transportation.
Employment Standards
Knowledge : Developmental disabilities; mental illness; clinical assessment across the lifespan and treatment options; all aspects of behavioral assessment including direct observational strategies, reinforcement surveys, functional analysis of behavior, behavioral and developmental checklists; design of instructional programs for individuals with developmental disabilities using motivational systems, behavioral interventions, and evaluation of program efficiency; laws ethical standards, and regulations pertaining to services delivery, applied behavior analysis (ABA)
Education & Experience:
- Master’s degree in Behavior Analysis, psychology, counseling or education or a related field and
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
- Two (2) years professional experience providing behavioral services, service recommendations, and consultation to people with developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, or emotional disturbances, their families and service providers.

All aspects of behavioral assessment and intervention design. Excellent customer service. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail. Ability to prioritize, respond to multiple tasks, request and meet timelines. Review and present information obtained in a concise manner. Base Pay Rate / Salary Range Information
The actual amount offered within the posted salary/pay rate range will depend on a variety of factors, including degree obtained/education, experience, skills and abilities, and other relevant job-related factors. The lower end of salary range applies to candidates who meet minimum qualifications or have limited years of relevant experience; the higher end of range will apply to seasoned candidates with considerable years of direct relevant experience.

The behavioral health consultant (BHC) will provide mental health services in 2 distinct settings: the Family Medicine Residency Clinic and St. Mary's Regional Hospital.
*** **Position Summary:**
The IBH Clinician will provide team-based care at our family medicine residency clinic as a core member of the care team, providing brief, evidence-based interventions to patients across the lifespan. The role includes a split of time between outpatient primary care, inpatient behavioral health consults, and wraparound care coordination for high-utilizing patients through our multidisciplinary care model. In addition to direct patient care, the clinician will provide training and supervision of Masters of Social Work student interns and contributes to ongoing quality improvement (QI) initiatives and clinic workflows.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Clinical Duties (Outpatient & Inpatient):
+ Deliver brief, solution-focused, and culturally responsive behavioral health interventions within primary care and inpatient settings.
+ Provide same-day warm handoffs, crisis interventions, and follow-up care.
+ Participate in behavioral health consults for hospitalized patients, collaborating closely with inpatient medical teams.
+ Co-manage high-risk, high-utilizing patients through an innovative wraparound care model that emphasizes continuity, care planning, and interdisciplinary teamwork.
**Training & Supervision:**
+ Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to MSW student interns.
+ Offer in-service trainings and case consultations to primary care providers and staff.

Roles and Responsibilities:
We are looking for a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)/Behavioral Health Consultant OR Licensed Psychologist/Behavioral Health Consultant to work in close concert with patients' medical providers and the integrated team to offer rapid access to brief mental and behavioral health assessment and intervention to help meet defined patient care goals:
- Training in one of the following fields (New York State licensure required):
- Clinical or Medical Social Work
- Clinical or Counseling Psychology
- Pediatric experience/interest is preferred, although not required.
- Flexibility to adapt to fast-paced medical environments as a member of a dynamic care team.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in a team setting.
- Ability to maintain effective and professional relationships with patients and other members of the care team.
- Experience with assessment and treatment planning for common mental health and/or substance use disorders, as well as working knowledge of differential diagnosis for these conditions.
- Working knowledge of evidence-based psychosocial treatments and brief behavioral interventions for common mental health disorders (e.g., motivational interviewing, problem-solving treatment, behavioral activation, cognitive behavioral therapy, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of psychopharmacology for common mental health disorders that is within appropriate scope of primary care.
- Ability to effectively engage patients in a therapeutic relationship, when appropriate.
- Ability to work with patients by telephone / telehealth as well as in person.
- Familiarity with using electronic medical record systems.
- Training and / or experience in integrated behavioral health care (especially PCBH and CoCM) is a plus, but training in these care models will be provided for candidates without this specific background.

Job Duties
- Assist JCDSS caseworkers in the field with identified families using a screening tool and/or provide direct consultation with JCDSS caseworkers regarding families who might benefit from substance abuse screening.
- Conduct screenings for adults and/or children for early identification of substance abuse treatment needs.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the plan of safe care for any infant born and identified as being affected by substance abuse or withdrawal symptoms or Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.
- Identify, recommend, and provide educational training to JCDSS caseworkers when needed and appropriate.
- Provide clinical assessment and documentation to support the Child Protective Services process.
- Provide referrals for identified children and/or adults who may need ongoing services.
- Complete assessments and documentation to JCDSS caseworkers in a timely manner.
- Provide legal testimony as request by JCDSS.
- Act as a liaison between JCDSS and community services.
- Complete progress reports as required.
- Attend meetings and trainings as required.
- Additional duties as assigned as areas of need are identified.
