Position Overview
We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Part - Time Psychiatrist to join our dedicated healthcare team at our Sydney Baer location, in the New York, NY. The Psychiatrist will be responsible for diagnosing and treating a variety of psychiatric conditions, providing medication management, conducting evaluations, and offering therapeutic interventions. This role is vital in promoting mental health and wellness for the underserved population of Inwood Health Center, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive care in a supportive and culturally competent environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, including comprehensive assessments and diagnosis of mental health conditions.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans, including medication management and therapeutic interventions in coordination with the patient's treatment team.
- Provide ongoing medication monitoring and psychiatric care, develop initial and update pharmacological treatment plans based on patient's progress.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and lifestyle changes to promote well-being.
- Collaborate with primary care providers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic, integrated patient care.
- Participate in case conferences, treatment planning meetings, High Risk meetings, and multidisciplinary team efforts to optimize patient care.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions, adhering to regulatory and legal requirements.
- Offer crisis intervention and manage psychiatric emergencies as needed.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay informed of the latest advancements in psychiatry.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives aimed at improving patient care and clinical outcomes.
- Provide supervision to psychiatric nurse practitioners and other healthcare professionals as required.
Minimum Education Requirement
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) with a focus in Psychiatry.
Minimum Work Experience
- 3-5 years of clinical experience in psychiatry, particularly within community health or Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) preferred.
- Experience working with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with co-occurring disorders, is highly desirable.
Licensure
- Valid and active New York State medical license.
- Board Certification in Psychiatry is preferred or Board Eligible for recent graduates
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- DEA License (active or eligible).

**Job Summary**
The Behavioral Health Therapist requires a broad and thorough understanding of human behavior, theories of counseling, and psychopathology. May work with a wide range of patient populations and presenting issues, requiring a foundation in a variety of treatment modalities. This role has total independence and responsibility for patient well-being. The Behavioral Health Therapist provides diagnostic assessment, onsite crisis assessment and intervention, and determines need for ongoing care according to level of clinical ability, medical, and psychosocial complexity. Develops treatment plans and implements treatment interventions specific to patient needs. Continually assesses patient's progress and revises diagnosis(es), treatment plans, and interventions accordingly. Documents treatment sessions. The Behavioral Health Therapist may work in a variety of settings, with duties varying by setting:
In a clinic setting (other than primary care), the Behavioral Health Therapist conducts scheduled face-to-face therapy sessions designed to assess and improve patient's emotional, mental, and behavioral health.
In a community setting, the Behavioral Health Therapist provides treatment for patients with severe and persistent mental illness. This may include community-based interventions aimed at improving daily living skills, social skills, and self-regulation skills. The community-based Behavioral Health Therapist serves as a consultant for a multi-disciplinary team to ensure treatment interventions are implemented and that the patient is in compliance with treatment.
In a residential setting, the Behavioral Health Therapist provides treatment for patients requiring a higher level of care than outpatient therapy; however, do not meet the criteria for psychiatric inpatient treatment. Treatment occurs at the residential treatment facility and includes a broad range of duties: assessment and diagnosis, individual and group therapy, development, implementation, and evaluation of therapy programs, and consultation and coordination with a multi-disciplinary team.
Credentialing through the Allied Health Staff of the organization where you will be working will be required.
**Qualifications**
Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related Behavioral Health Sciences required; graduation from an accredited school preferred.
License must be in good standing in state(s) of practice.

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)

**A Brief Overview**
Serves as a liaison for nurses, counselors, and patients in interdepartmental communications. Assists with the physical and psychological care of patients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Assumes responsibility and accountability for individual actions and outcomes of patient care delivered.

Qualifications
* Job Requirements:
* Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
* Experience: At least one (1) year of previous experience in a healthcare setting and/or previous behavioral health experience strongly preferred.
* Current BLS certification required.
* Must complete and maintain training Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) (aggression management, crisis intervention and restraint training). Training may be obtained during new hire orientation.

Facilitate clinical mental and behavioral health therapeutic support congruent to the plan of care. Overview:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), the applicant will be integral in managing urgent, high-stress situations, collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate and implement immediate treatment plans. The RN will provide compassionate, client-centered care during critical moments, engaging thoughtfully with both clients and families.
