He/She will be responsible for interacting with various departments to find, consolidate & manipulate data from multiple large data sets; to analyze and understand results; and to create reports, presentations and/or dashboards for the digital executive leadership team. Types of analysis could include financial, guest experience/behavioral or business process related. The ideal candidate will be able to independently recommend digital business opportunities based on the data they collect and assess. This position will have a direct access to the senior digital leadership team and will have a positive influence on the growth of current and future digital products as a positive impact on both our Guest & employee experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Influences business decisions through analytics and identifies actionable, data-driven insights. Makes recommendations and influences the direction of the business by effectively communicating results to a cross functional group as well as department executives.
  • Responsible for contributing analytical and data support for the development of strategic business plans. This might include strategies on product feature prioritization, baseline assessment & tracking for key performance indicators, as well as evaluating the revenue and/or guest satisfaction impact of potential changes.
  • Proactively uncovers trends and anomalies, develops root cause analysis to understand relationships and presents actionable insights to drive feature enhancements or operational improvements.
  • Works autonomously and with little direction to complete assignments, coordinating business processes, programs and projects based on the outlined strategies and defined directives.
  • Aggregates large data sets in Tableau, SAS, Excel, and other analytical tools for analysis. Develops data strategies specifically around data structures, identifying critical information, as well as the tools used to retrieve and analyze the data. Performs research and analysis on large data sets - data exploration, trending, modeling, etc.
  • Works with management & other team members to understand & clarify data analysis and reporting needs. Provides guidance and insight on data visualization options for report design.
  • Creates dashboards, automated reports, report templates and presentations. Uses advanced data visualization tools, such as Tableau/Power BI, to provide an easy to understand interface for end users to quickly identify key themes within data. Responsible for daily/weekly/monthly reporting on business trends and the status of digital experience initiatives for senior management.
  • Ensures our business intelligence tools (i.e. dashboards, self-service portal, etc.) scale, are easy to maintain and serve the needs (routine and ad hoc analyses) of the Digital program.
  • Collaborates with Data Engineers to build robust data pipelines and tables to provide timely and accurate information and meet business reporting needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree (BA) required with a degree focus on Business, Finance, Engineering or other quantitative discipline preferred
  • 3+ years of work experience required, with experience performing either strategic digital analysis, financial analysis, or business intelligence/marketing analytics highly preferred
  • Experience in travel/leisure hospitality is preferred

POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Afognak Native Corporation has an exciting opportunity for a Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst. The Business Intelligence (BI) analyst provides strategic, analytical, and technical support for business intelligence activities. The analyst leverages data to gain key insight into business opportunities, and effectively presents these insights to business stakeholders. The analyst is also heavily involved with the distribution and successful delivery of all BI reports.

Please note that this position also offers the flexibility for remote work, specifically in the Central and Pacific time zones within the United States.

  • Partners with stakeholders, process specialists, and users to elicit and document business requirements.
  • Working with key business partners to understand business priorities, identify strategic initiatives, and develop effective and timely analytic solutions.
  • Reviewing existing analytic processes to identify best practices and opportunities for improvement
  • Performs ongoing monitoring and refinement of reports.
  • Document data analysis using DevOps and other BI Team tools.
  • Provides technical support for existing reports and dashboards.
  • Identifies and analyzes errors and inconsistencies in the data and provides timely resolutions.
  • Translates data results into reports with visualizations to convey information to management.
  • Creates written communication materials that effectively summarize findings and support recommendations.
  • Creates ad hoc reports and views on a frequent basis to assist management in understanding, researching, and analyzing issues.
  • Mentor team members and organizational units regarding analytic and PowerBI best practices.

Pay rate: 80,000 to 100,000 annually

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BA/BS required in a quantitative field (statistics, econometrics, mathematics, etc.)
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Pursuant to the Government Contract, you must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in business analytics.
  • Demonstrated experience using data to drive business decisions.
  • Proven leadership of business intelligence and analytic initiatives in fast-paced, multiple project environment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of data warehousing and tabular data
  • Ability to contribute both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills
  • Professional image with the ability to form good partner relationships across department functions
  • Strategic, intellectually curious thinker with a focus on outcomes
  • Experience in data modeling techniques such as the star schema.
  • Experience with Microsoft Big Data Architecture is a plus.
  • Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries
