Collaborating with design teams, this position is responsible for creating and preparing comprehensive and accurate construction documentation for internal use and external presentation. - Develop, manage, and maintain 3D BIM models for architectural, structural, and MEP systems.
- Coordinate BIM efforts across multiple disciplines to ensure model accuracy and clash-free designs .

The BIM Specialist II is a hybrid position, reporting to the Director of Design and VDC Manager who is based within the Paladin US Headquarters office in San Diego. This position will require the BIM Specialist II to perform BIM modeling and coordination tasks daily, while concurrently assisting to develop the Revit standards, families, project templates, workflows, and procedures within Paladin Technologies. Responsibilities:- Working in both 2D and 3D drafting programs, including but not limited to AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM360, and Navisworks, develop detailed models and subsequent drawings needed for the generation of Structured Cabling Systems, Outside Plant Infrastructure, Audio Visual Systems, Security Systems, DAS, and other technologies or low voltage disciplines.

Be a project partner and an ambassador of Paladin Technologies and provide clear communications and support when addressing clash resolutions within the various project models.
- Identification, review, and understanding of every project's specific Design Intent, BIM Execution Plan, and/or Project Execution Plan is vital to the success of the BIM Specialist II.
- Perform Electronic Takeoffs as required using Autodesk applications or Bluebeam Revu.

A BIM Specialist is recognized as having a basic understanding of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other design software used by PDIincluding, but not limited to, AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, and Bluebeamwith basic proficiency in BIM modeling and model management across PDI projects.
A BIM Specialist I will grow beyond the need to receive detailed "red-line drawings" and begin to integrate themselves into the workflow in such a way that little or no instruction will be required to produce Prefabricated Drawing Designs and Documentation packages under the guidance of the Prefab Design Manager. BIM Specialist I will produce industry leading prefabricated dwelling unit design drawing packages for the prefabrication shop in collaboration with the Prefab Project Management Team and the Prefab Design Manager. These rough packages will be used in the field for our installation teams to perform their work according with the design intent, owner wishes, constructability and PDI Best Practices. A successful candidate will be able to adapt to the uneven flow of information and construction schedule changes well working directly with the Prefab Design Manager to ensure quality installation drawings are being produced within a timely manner.
Position details and responsibilities:
- Understand and apply Power Design's AutoCAD and/or Revit Standards into each Roughbook drawing design.
- Work with Prefab Best Practices & QC Processes to understand how they relate to all drawings.
- Work with Prefab Design Manager to ensure all required information is available to create Unit Rough Packages.
- Apply all applicable NEC Articles 110, 210, 310 & 314 that apply to Dwelling Units.
- Apply working knowledge of building types & electrical installation requirements within a dwelling unit.
- Assist on the updating Panel Schedules and Prefab Breakdown Books in collaboration with the latest approved Engineering of Record Drawings.
- Ability to create Prefab Unit Roughbook packages under direct supervision.

Job Overview
Provide 3D Building Information Modeling (BIM), 3D imagery (photogrammetry and Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) scans), and aerial high-resolution Ortho mosaic imagery using Autodesk Revit for all customer sites, towers, structures, and equipment. All models must be georeferenced, compatible with Esri ArcGIS environments, and all technology used must meet U.S. government security requirements under Section 889 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Capture 3D models of internal and external sites, towers, structures, and equipment using photogrammetry and LiDAR technology.
- Capture high-resolution two-dimensional (2D) ortho mosaic aerial imagery using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or similar equipment, ensuring a Ground Sample Distance (GSD) of 2-5 cm per pixel to meet high spatial accuracy and inspection-level detail.
- Ensure models are georeferenced to meet integration standards for ArcGIS. Accuracy for 3D imagery must achieve the same GSD of 2-5 cm per pixel for photogrammetry and LiDAR, ensuring fine-detail resolution.
- Provide BIM models that adhere to level of development (LOD) 300 for electronic systems and LOD 200 for infrastructure, ensuring accuracy in both.
- Capture Networks and Power Distribution: Model both local and external network connections, showing system interconnections and accurately mapping power distribution.
- Develop Interactive Mapping: Provide system-level mapping of power, network paths, and communication links, enabling isolation and highlighting of individual components.
- Maintain Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) Standards: All BIM models must comply with IFC standards to ensure consistent spatial accuracy and asset representation.
- Collect Basic System Identification: Capture visual representations of equipment as interactive 3D objects with metadata (e.g., make, model, serial number, etc.).
- Provide 360-Degree Panoramic and Still Photography: Include strategically captured 360-degree panoramic photos and still images of key equipment, integrated with the 3D imagery to enhance spatial context.
- Collect warranty information, maintenance history, installation dates, software/firmware versions, and next service dates. Ensure metadata fields are properly formatted with placeholders for government updates.
- Collect and deliver metadata aligned with both IFC and Construction Operations Building Information Exchange (COBie) standards. The metadata structure, including families, elements, parameters, and Unique Identifiers (UIDs), must be agreed upon by the government at the project's outset.
- Provide 3D BIM Models: Comprehensive Autodesk Revit models incorporating all electronic systems and infrastructure, meeting LOD 300 for electronic systems and LOD 200 for infrastructure.
- Collect 3D Imagery Data: Processed LiDAR and photogrammetry datasets, ready for integration into BIM models and ArcGIS.
- Produce Fused 3D Models: High-resolution 3D models combining LiDAR and photogrammetry data, with fusion documentation. Panoramic and still photos of key equipment, including nameplates and technical labels, integrated into the 3D models.
- Gather Aerial Ortho mosaic Imagery: High-resolution, georeferenced 2D imagery for detailed mapping and ArcGIS integration.
- Provide Metadata Report: A comprehensive metadata report in IFC and COBie formats, including UID requirements for all equipment, as well as compliance data (e.g., FIPS, spectrum approval).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to ensure metadata fields are properly formatted with placeholders for government updates.
Mandatory:
- Autodesk Revit Certification: Required for those handling BIM models to ensure proper development and integration.
- 3D Photogrammetry and LiDAR Scanning Expertise: Certification or significant experience in these technologies is required, with preferred 5 years of experience.
- GIS Integration Experience: Familiar with integrating 3D models into ArcGIS.
- BIM Expertise: Demonstrated experience in creating and refining BIM models and generating metadata, with preferred 5 years of experience.
- Experience with GIS Integration: Developing and refining 3D BIM models and ensure integration into ArcGIS environment.
- Metadata Management Experience: Expertise in managing and updating metadata for BIM and 3D imagery models. Proficient in both COBie and IFC meta data standards and developing metadata hierarchy structures.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass and maintain background clearance.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test.
- Must be able to work outdoors.
- Ability to work in low lit areas for long periods of time
