We are currently seeking a morning bread baker. No overnight baking required. All candidates must share our enthusiasm for bread and baking and have a desire to learn more. A successful candidate will also work well as part of a team and approach tasks with diligence and an attention to detail in order to meet our high standards. Candidates require a basic understanding of fermentation and must be comfortable working in a bakery environment.
A successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Mixing bulk doughs
- Shaping and baking bread, buns, rolls
- Baking with a deck oven is not required, but would be considered a plus
- Lending assistance to other bakery team members
- Willing and ready to learn new stations, has a "yes chef" mentality
- Completing shift work, as assigned, in a timely and thorough manner in accordance with bakery standards
- Maintaining sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies within working area
- Following principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment, ensuring corporate and OSHA safety standards are followed
- At least 18 years old
- Able to lift and carry 50+lb

In a collaborative environment with multiple stations, the bread baker is a person who can take on a variety of tasks, including mixing, shaping, and baking our range of breads, as well prepping produce and sandwich assembly. The bread baking role is a job for someone who is interested in working with a variety of doughs — sourdough and yeasted — and working with our Senior Bread Baker to put out beautiful, wholesome breads every day. While the bakery itself includes pastry, pies, cakes, and other special baked goods, this job is specifically for someone who is interested in and preferably trained in bread. Understanding hydration, formulas, flours, DDT, and bake temps is important but not essential, as you will be trained on our ever-growing menu of almost all sourdough breads.
Performance reviews happen after 90 days; 6-month check-ins for potential promotions. This is a fuil-time role with 4 10-hour days.
Responsibilities:
- Mixing dough for breads
- Dividing and shaping dough with a team of other bakers
- Baking off breads and boiling bagels, occasionally baking off pastries and baked goods when needed
- Making sauces, fillings, jams, custards, toppings, and more for a range of sandwiches
- Prepping and assembling sandwiches every day
- Maintaining clean and organized stations during work hours, as well as participating in a weekly deep clean
- Washing and prepping produce for use in baking
- Helping with inventory, accepting deliveries
Job Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be comfortable working on your feet for 10-hour days in a 4-day workweek in a high-energy environment
- Ability to ask for help when needed; ability to provide help to others when needed
