We are looking for a dedicated Brokerage Manager to lead and oversee our client's customs brokerage operations in Plainfield, Indiana. In this role, you will ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection regulations while driving efficiency in the delivery of goods to customers. This position requires a strong leader who can manage daily operations, maintain compliance standards, and foster a high-performing team.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and ensure the accurate and timely submission of customs entries and the efficient dispatch of cargo to customers.
- Monitor and enhance billing accuracy while ensuring compliance with established procedures.
- Oversee operational systems, such as Cargowise, and implement process improvements to meet compliance and customer requirements.
- Collaborate closely with the Operations department to align workflows and communication.
- Prepare and deliver regular status reports to customers, providing updates on shipment progress.
- Conduct audits of team entries and billing processes to ensure accuracy and identify training needs.
- Train and advise the team on Customs Brokerage Regulations, ensuring adherence to compliance standards.
- Evaluate team performance, audit shipment records, and implement corrective actions for problem files.
- Develop and execute work instructions to maintain an efficient file flow, including release, billing, and auditing.
- Identify and address staff training needs, creating objectives and conducting regular team meetings to communicate goals.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience in logistics, including 2 years in customs brokerage.
- Licensed Customs House Broker certification is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with Cargowise or similar systems.
- Strong knowledge of Customs Brokerage Regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to manage and lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills for addressing documentation discrepancies.
