Job Description
An environmental engineering firm that specializes in the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater facilities is looking to bring on a Building Mechanical CAD Designer. As part of the Building Services CAD team, you will work specifically on HVAC and Plumbing systems for projects related to municipal water and wastewater treatment plants, including but not limited to major treatment plant expansions, regional water quality studies, and critical water reuse projects that will create sustainable and resilient water supplies for the world. This person will be responsible for a variety of project elements, including drafting, design, checking, and both 2D and 3D drawings. To integrate into the team efficiently, this person will need a strong background in Revit, including proficient skills that are ready to deploy. This role will be a 6 month contract-to-hire model, with the primary goal being a permanent conversion. This role can pay anywhere between $30-$45/hr, with permanent conversion salary coming in at or above that rate. The ideal candidate would be able to work a hybrid schedule in the Dallas or Austin offices, but other location/remote options are available for the right candidate.

The drafterSr. MBS Designer is a professional who uses MBS CADsoftware to create, edit, and modify detailed 2D and2D and 3D drawings and designs for electrical equipmentmetal building systems components and assemblies per client specs. who will design and implement complex Utility grade, industrial, commercial, and domestic electrical power systems.
Job Duties:
• Create initial drawing packages for the estimating department at the proposal phase
• Design, maintain, implement, and improve electrical instruments, components, equipment.
• Leads the engineering and project management efforts on assigned projects and is responsible for coordinating the individual Engineering Disciplines such that the most cost-effective total project solution for executing engineering work is achieved.
• Ensures that the engineering work on the project is completed on schedule, meets quality standards including review meetings and checking procedures, performance is within the baseline man hour and material budgets, required deliverables are produced and , change management is executed in a timely manner
• Reviews the status of the schedule and progress performance with the Clients on a regular basis, and keeps the General Managers apprised of issues
• Ensures the quality of the engineering execution and deliverables
• Participates in people development through mentoring, development of training material, and conducting or training seminars
• Develops and builds client relations
• Develop electrical documents for scope of work definition, specification, data sheets, equipment selection, drawing review, schematic development, wiring diagrams, physical layout drawings and project close out procedures for low to medium voltage industrial power distribution systems.
• Prepared purchase requisitions for various electrical equipment.
• Leads inspection and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for various relay panels, Power Distribution Centers, and remote instrumentation enclosure Buildings.
• Exhibit thorough understanding of pertinent codes and governing regulations, and industry practices.
• Review estimates to confirm the technical offerings of the product
• Create engineering drawings and shop packages using Metal Building Software (MBS) for pre-engineered metal buildings electricalper client specs.
• Maintain company's CADstandards and templates for Metal Building Software (MBS)
• Learn and implement electrical equipmentbuilding structures and client-specific equipment needs and their usage
• Learn and implement building design from client-specific standards and NEC if applicablePanelmatic methods
• Learn wire sizing and design from client-specific standards and NEC
• Read and analyze existing blueprints, construction drawings, and plans

Minimum Qualifications:

**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor Degree in drafting technology or related field and 7 years related experience
+ Associate Degree and 8 years related experience
+ 9 years progressive detailing and design experience.
+ Advanced understanding of design software such as: AutoCAD and Excel to develop the design deliverables. Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
+ Advanced ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
+ Advanced knowledge in design, calculations and design systems.
+ Advanced knowledge in the theory and practices of assigned discipline; competent in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to the assigned discipline; and capable of operating related discipline design software necessary to execute production tasks.
+ Ability to work collaboratively with others including, but not limited to Project Managers, Engineers and Designers in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
+ Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
+ Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and attention to detail.

**Compensation**
$110,000.00-150,000.00 Yearly
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.

A Staff Building Mechanical Designer will perform various phases of planning, analytical designs, specifications, and preparation of proposal and construction documentation and mechanical plans as part of a project team. This position will work on various projects with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients.

+ Produce complete PFDs and P&IDs from verbal or written description from the design engineer.
+ Execute basic formulas, principles and practices, and use acquired knowledge of fundamental concepts and practices pertaining to the mechanical discipline.
