About This Opportunity

Rockford is looking for a key member of Virtual Design Construction team. Leading BIM Coordination process and assisting project teams with the implementation of Technology, Building Information Models and Virtual Design and Construction methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the MEP & VDC Manager to support in-house pre-construction team, design team and project management team with day-to-day and long-term duties, tasks, and training.
  • Assist with the MEP & VDC Manager in developing/maintaining BIM associated contracts and documents.
  • Assist with the MEP & VDC Manager in exploring more VDC Applications (4D scheduling, 5D cost, nD, etc.)
  • Manage and analyze models provided by Architects, Engineers, trade contractors and consultants to identify coordination and constructability issues.
  • Develop 3D models through Revit as necessary for coordination purpose only.
  • Collaboratively conduct BIM coordination meetings with construction team, design team and trade contractors
  • Manage coordination process, conduct clash detection, visual walkthroughs, and clash-free signoff to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Field Check for QA/QC and provide site reports.
  • Conduct BIM close-out process, including the final as-built models.
Requirements

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Architectural, Engineering, Construction Management, or Computer Science, preferred.
  • A minimum of one year construction technology experience
  • An understanding of basic construction processes, procedures, and technologies.
  • An understanding of VDC and BIM within a business
  • Familiarity with construction management software and cloud platforms
  • Familiarity with VDC/BIM software, including but not limited to Navisworks Manage, Revit, Autodesk CAD, SketchUp, etc.
  • Ability to read drawings, specifications, submittals, etc.
  • Must have a working knowledge of MS Office, including strong skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Environmental Factors and Working Conditions

The work environment for this position is a mix of a typical office environment, warehouse and visits to construction project sites. Intermittent movement will be necessary to perform requirements of the position such as accessing centrally located office equipment. The physical demands may require the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and may be subject to frequent lifting of 60 lbs., bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing. Site visits may subject the individual to hazards commonly associated with construction sites. Examples of physical hazards include noise, proximity to moving vehicles, atmospheric conditions, close quarters, uneven surfaces, and elevated surfaces. The individual may also be subjected to outside environmental conditions (weather) where protection may not be available. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to be worn as required on project sites and in the warehouse.

BIM/VDC Specialist

The Specialist creates 3D models on one complex project or multiple small projects and may assist with design validation and model maintenance. Visits field to learn concrete construction means and methods.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related construction field and 5 years' experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Advanced knowledge of 3D/4D/5D BIM and of appropriate platforms such as AutoCad, Architectural Desktop, Revit, Tekla, etc.

ROLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proficiency in 3D Model Authorization tools such as Revit and/or Tekla.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic understanding of construction software such as Primavera, MS Project, and the like
  • Basic understanding of BIM/VDC application such as Digital Layout, 4D Scheduling, 3D Scanning

Responsible for Creating and Maintaining 3D Models

  • Creates accurate 3D Model using Revit and/or Tekla, based on contract drawings to be used for digital layout (model-based layout)
  • Assists with validating design drawings and construction documents during modeling process and writes RFIs to resolve drawing discrepancies
  • Maintains 3D model with any changes due to drawing revision, RFI response, submittal etc. to maintain accuracy of construction model
  • Supports creating line drawing/lift drawing based on project needs
  • Supports shoring engineer by providing 3D model to help visualization of complex project
  • Works closely with field team to learn constructability mean and methods and improve accuracy of 3D Model

Supports Pre-Construction with Visualization and Presentation

  • Creates 3D Model for Pre-Construction to be used for model-based take-offs, to help estimator quantity check
  • Offers support in creating 4D Schedule to help visualize project sequence to team and client
  • Provides graphical support to Marketing for presentation
  • Supports Sr. BIM/VDC Specialist in managing 3rd party companies for outsourced 3D model creation

**Basic Job Requirements**
