We provide Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing and Electrical engineering for a variety of projects that include commercial office buildings, educational facilities, public agencies, and interior tenant build-outs. GAA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with experience in project management as well as developing construction documents for HVAC, Mechanical, Plumbing and control systems. LEED certification is desirable. The responsibilities of the candidate will include: reviewing projects for coordination, managing the mechanical team and assigning projects, preparation of studies, design, preparation of construction documents, and construction administration services. Good communication and writing skills are a must.
We are interested in candidates who are self-motivated, possess a great attitude and who will be a vital member of our firm working closely with our in-house Architects, structural and electrical engineers. The person will be involved in a variety of projects ranging throughout Virginia, Washington, DC, and Maryland. Candidates must be well-organized, clear communicators, and proficient in AutoCAD, BIM/Revit, Carrier HAP Program (or similar load estimating programs), Microsoft Word and Excel. Candidates must have hands-on experience with construction documents, writing specifications, and understanding building codes.
This role will be performed out of the Fairfax, VA office 4 days a week with one remote day each week.

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, this position supports the maintenance, management, and strategic planning of the district's buildings, grounds, and physical infrastructure to create safe, efficient, and welcoming learning environments.

Plans may incorporate recommendations for capital investments, policy development, and/or procedural changes that reduce the City's energy costs and maximize efficiency.
- Work with Facilities Department staff and with various other departments to communicate, educate, and implement plan components including preventative maintenance programs, energy reduction efforts, systems upgrades, and other projects. Establish and monitor preventative maintenance procedures and implement scheduling and tracking systems in the district's school operations system (currently OperationsHERO).
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, district and city staff, and external partners
