APTIM is currently seeking a Waste Transportation and Disposal (T&D) Manager to support our deactivation, decommissioning, and removal projects at Los Alamos National Laboratory and nationwide. This position will be responsible for supervising project activities associated with the transportation and disposal of radioactive, hazardous, mixed, and clean wastes and other materials transported off-site for recycling, reuse, or disposal. Strong interpersonal skills are required, including the ability to communicate clearly and confidently, both written and verbally, to all project team members including client representatives, regulators, and APTIM colleagues alike.
**Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:**
+ Responsible for preparing waste characterization and classification paperwork; generating profile and shipping manifest documents.
+ Ensuring all waste is packaged, labeled, and shipped in accordance with USEPA, USDOT (49 CFR 173-178), USNRC (10 CFR Part 71), and applicable site requirements.
+ Responsible for overseeing and tracking inspections, weights, and radiological survey of incoming and outgoing waste trucks and containers.
+ Works with the client and other stakeholders to resolve any and all issues before a waste shipment departs the site.
+ Manage on-site inspections and inventories of waste collection and storage areas.
+ Ensures that work is executed in accordance with approved work processes using standard tools which have been adopted by the Company.
+ Responsible for executing field tasks in a safe and efficient manner; ensures that any safety incidents are communicated and managed in accord with company and client procedures.
+ Establish strategic relationships with packaging, transportation, and disposal vendors for multiple project sites.
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Demonstrated experience and educational training for the role (e.g., 40-hour USDOT Radioactive Materials Shipping; training in USNRC packaging regulations).
+ Possesses a minimum 15 years of relevant and appropriate experience in planning, coordination, and execution of all Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities as noted above.
+ Interprets customer needs, assesses requirements and identifies solutions to non-standard requests.
+ Explains difficult issues and works to establish consensus.
+ Promotes teamwork; coaches and guides others.
+ A bachelor's degree is preferred; however, candidates with an associate degree and equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will also be considered.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
