Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in process engineering, business analysis, or continuous improvement (manufacturing industry experience preferred).
• Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and business process mapping tools.
• Strong skills in data analysis, reporting, and KPI management.
• Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-departmental projects.
• Ability to manage multiple initiatives and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in Manufacturing industry is a must.

We are looking for a Business Systems Engineer to join our Business Technology team to scale systems powering our GTM, Finance, and Operations teams. In this role, you'll design, build, and maintain integrations, automations, and workflows across our SaaS stack to ensure seamless data flows and reliable operations. Combining technical expertise with cross-functional collaboration, you'll partner with stakeholders in Sales, Finance, Marketing, and Support to deliver scalable solutions that drive business growth.

What You'll Achieve:

• Systems Development & Customization
• Design, build, and maintain solutions in Salesforce and other business-critical SaaS applications.
• Configure workflows, automations, and data transformations to streamline processes and reduce manual work.
• Integrations & Architecture
• Build and maintain integrations using iPaaS tools (e.g., Workato, Tray.io, Celigo, Mulesoft).
• Develop direct API integrations (Node.js, Python, AWS Lambda, REST/SOAP) for custom connectivity.
• Contribute to long-term systems architecture and integration roadmap, ensuring scalability and resilience.
• Data & Governance
• Maintain high data quality and synchronization across CRM, ERP, billing, and support systems.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, process flows, and best practices.
• Collaboration & Delivery
• Partner with GTM and Finance leaders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Lead or contribute to cross-functional projects, from requirements gathering to implementation and support.
• Troubleshoot and resolve integration and application issues, ensuring system reliability and uptime.

Skills You'll Need to Bring:

• 46 years of experience in Business Systems Engineering or Application Engineering in a SaaS environment.
• Strong Salesforce development experience (Apex, SOQL, Lightning Web Components, APIs).
• Proficiency with at least one programming or scripting language (Python, JavaScript, Node.js or TypeScript).
• Experience with integration platforms (Workato, Tray.io, or Mulesoft).
• Familiarity with ERP and GTM processes (e.g., lead-to-cash, quote-to-cash, customer lifecycle).
• Strong understanding of data modeling, APIs, and system architecture.
• Excellent communication skills; ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.

The compensation offered for this role will be based on multiple factors such as location, the role's scope and complexity, and the candidate's experience and expertise, and may vary from the range provided below. For roles based in San Francisco and New York, the estimated base salary range for this role is $190,000-$215,000 per year.

• Own system integrations across business platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Cin7, Monday.com, Slack, etc.) to ensure cross-functional efficiency and alignment
• Design and implement scalable workflows and automations that support GTM and operational teams
• Drive system configuration and process improvements to support business goals
• Identify and resolve data integrity issues, ensure clean data flows across systems
• Partner with stakeholders to map current-state vs future-state systems infrastructure
• Evaluate and onboard new tools that support efficiency and eliminate silos
• Develop internal documentation and training to ensure strong team adoption of systems and processes
• Project manage technical implementations with vendors and internal teams
• Monitor system usage and performance metrics; proactively flag gaps or inefficiencies

• 3+ years of experience in systems operations, revenue operations, or business process improvement
• Hands-on experience with at least two of the following: HubSpot, Monday.com, Cin7, Netsuite, or similar
• Proven ability to lead projects across multiple departments and stakeholders
• Excellent organizational and project management skills
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail
• Experience with systems integration, automation, or low-code/no-code platforms (Zapier, Make, Workato, etc.)

Job Description

Our standard and custom high-speed automated packaging equipment enables our customers to excel in highly competitive food and pharmaceutical industries. We thrive for developing, adopting and enhancing our portfolio to lead the industries with new innovative technologies and solutions. The Business Systems Engineer is an integral role in Syntegon’s success in leading the world’s packaging machinery market.

In this role, the business systems specialist will support, maintain, and enhance business systems for the New Richmond site by working cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and coordinating with other Syntegon sites to align with global standards and initiatives. Success in this role requires initiative and a continuous improvement mindset to be able to identify and drive positive changes within the site business systems for more efficient operations.

Technical tasks and responsibilities:

• Maintain, support, and enhance existing business systems (e.g., SAP, D365 PO, Tacton CPQ), and design and implement new solutions to replace or automate manual processes.
• Develop custom code and BI solutions to enable effective reporting and meet evolving business needs.

Leadership tasks and responsibilities:

• Drive continuous improvement of New Richmond’s business systems and manage cross-functional change in collaboration with department leadership.
• Train and support users to build system competency and ensure successful adoption across the organization.

Strategic tasks and responsibilities:

• Identify system gaps and inefficiencies in business system landscape, gather stakeholder feedback, and lead execution of effective solutions.
• Advocate for New Richmond’s business needs in corporate initiatives to ensure standardized systems, including configurators, are optimized for local use.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or software engineering (or 7+ years of relevant experience)
• 5+ years of software development experience
• 3+ years of development experience with SAP

Qualifications:

• Proven ability to write complex code and manage projects from initiation through implementation.
• Experience with ERP/CRM and CPQ systems (preferably Tacton), including administration, support, and development.
• Proficient in BI tools like Power BI for developing dashboards, reports, and data visualizations.
• Familiarity with additional programming and business processes such as manufacturing, sales, and accounting.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
• Self-motivated, analytical, and effective at leading cross-functional initiatives and driving continuous improvement.

Additional Information

The anticipated base salary for this position starts at $110,000 per year.

Compensation for roles at Syntegon varies depending on a wide array of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, degree/credentials, relevant skill set, and level of relevant experience.
