Roles & Responsibilities:
- Develop and/or modify designs related to Aero-engine components by analyzing product specifications, performance requirements, and existing manufacturing capabilities
- Execute mechanical design projects of gas turbine components on Structures/Rotating parts (Frames, Shaft, Disk, Blisk, seals etc.) and/or Airfoils (Blade, Vanes, Nozzles etc.)
- Evaluate concepts of new designs/improvements, manufacturing methods, materials or processes and complete required documentation by applying engineering principles and Industry standards, and generating reports, procedures or change proposals
- Capture design & system requirements from the customer, and incorporate into the component design
- Support technical substantiation, contribute & present in technical and program reviews
- Develop components and modules keeping cost, performance, life, and system requirements in mind
- Design and Analysis of the component using CAE tools (NX, ANSYS Classic, ANSYS workbench)
- Direct interface with other internal/external engineering functions
- Apply technical principles, theories, and concepts to solve a wide range of challenging engineering problems
- Evaluate form, fit, function and life of the components relative to the certified configuration
- Evaluate non-conformances by reviewing, analyzing design criteria's and acceptability limits, recommend disposition procedures and maximizing producibility

+ Work with Advanced Vehicle Crash Safety and Program Design teams to develop occupant CAE models in LS-Dyna for various crash modes.

Ford Underbody Systems Engineering is seeking a highly motivated CAE engineer to join our team. This engineer will work with all sections of Chassis (suspension, steering, and brakes) and interface with program management teams, suppliers, testing activities, manufacturing, and vehicle teams to automate current methods and employ optimization software to deliver optimized results by using design of experiments (DOEs), optimization algorithms, response surface models (RSMs) and neural networks. This engineer will be responsible in ensuring that the engineering requirements are being met and that results are being delivered on time. When deficiencies are detected, this engineer will use their knowledge and toolbox to recommend possible solutions to the design and release engineers. This position will require working with global Ford team members, depending on the current assignments. This engineer will research, identify and develop the leading software tools and methods available to improve Ford designs and bring them to Ford.
What you'll do.
+ Work with all sections of Chassis (suspensions, brakes, steering, tires, and wheels) and interface with program management teams, suppliers, testing activities, manufacturing, and vehicle teams.
+ Evaluate the sub-system level Strength, Durability (Static and Dynamic), kinematic and compliance performance of the chassis and steering components.
+ Build and analyze brake system to resolve squeal issues on current and future programs using Abaqus.
+ Brake squeal analysis and recommend design changes to rotor, pad (lining chamfers/slots), anchor bracket, caliper housing to eliminate squeal noise.
+ Perform Hyperstudy analysis to predict and correlate friction anisotropic properties with FRF test data.
+ Correlate brake component normal mode frequencies with FRF tests.
+ Perform modal separation analysis for rotor in-place and out-of-place modes.
+ Force transmissibility analysis based on brake load.
You'll have.
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related degree.
5+ years of experience with NVH CAE analysis.
2+ years of experience with chassis components and operation of front/rear suspensions and braking systems.

We are seeking an experienced Full Vehicle NVH CAE Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in NVH analysis, finite element modeling, and optimization of structures at full vehicle level, with a focus on integrating innovative solutions for next-generation electric vehicles. This role requires extensive experience in NVH CAE and deep understanding of vehicle systems to enhance performance and passenger comfort.

+ Perform Full-Vehicle NVH Simulations
+ Execute full vehicle-level NVH analyses for road, motor and thermal system loads for noise and vibrations including mode map and full vehicle sensitivity.
+ Build and Maintain CAE NVH Models
+ Develop high-fidelity finite element (FE) and boundary element (BE) models of body structures, trimmed bodies, and full vehicles using Altair Hyperworks and ANSA.
+ Post-Processing and Root Cause Analysis
+ Analyze modal, FRF, and acoustic response results to identify noise/vibration contributors and propose design changes.
+ Create animations, frequency response plots, and mode shape visualizations to explain vehicle NVH behavior.NVH Issue Identification and Countermeasure Development
+ Identify root causes of NVH issues and develop design countermeasures, damping strategies, or isolation solutions using simulation-led evaluations.
+ Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams
+ Work closely with body design, powertrain, chassis, and system-level teams to optimize component and system-level NVH.Provide guidance to CAD and test teams for model updates and validation plans.
+ Prototype Support and Evaluation
+ Support prototype vehicle builds by ensuring NVH requirements are incorporated and validated virtually before physical tests.
+ Propose early-stage improvements for concept vehicles and monitor NVH performance during prototype evaluations.
+ Conduct Design Optimization and Trade-Off Studies
+ Apply DOE, DFSS, and optimization tools to balance NVH performance against weight, cost, and packaging constraints.
+ Standardization and Process Development
+ Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for full vehicle NVH modeling and simulation practices.
+ Contribute to the creation of best-practice libraries for reuse across multiple programs and platforms.
+ Design Reviews and Communication
+ Present NVH analysis results in design reviews and program meetings.
+ Translate complex simulation findings into actionable insights and recommend design changes to improve vehicle-level NVH.
You'll have.
+ B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related fields
+ 5+ years of experience in creating and running CAE models for NVH and Test-to-CAE correlation.
+ Working knowledge and experience using CAE full vehicle model build tools NVHD or NVHC
+ Working knowledge and experience using CAE pre- post- processing codes such as Hyperworks, ANSA, equivalent for geometry cleanup and meshing,
+ Be able to run, debug and post-process Nastran, Optistruct, or equivalent for CAE analysis.
+ Be able to run one or more of following optimization tools: HEEDs, ModeFRONTIER, Optistruct, Tosca, Inspire, ANSYS
+ Familiarity with CAD tools such as CATIA/3Dx and capable of using CAD to develop CAE models from scratch.
+ Strong knowledge and application of engineering fundamentals.
+ Proven ability to analyze data, draw appropriate conclusions, and make solid recommendations.
+ Good communication and time management skills.
+ Ability to prioritize and complete multiple assignments at one time.

+ M.S./Ph.D. Mechanical Engineering or related field
+ 5-10+ years of experience in creating and running CAE models
+ Strong knowledge of vehicle noise and vibration and NVH testing methodologies.
+ Expert knowledge and experience using CAE preprocessing codes such as Hypermesh, ANSA equivalent for geometry cleanup, meshing and morphing.
+ Expert knowledge of modeling and analysis of various metals/plastics material systems (i.e. stampings, castings, injection molding, etc) and joining technologies (spot/line welds, SPR, FDS, adhesives, etc).
+ Expert knowledge of building full vehicle using NVH Director or NVH Console tools
