Job Description
A client is looking for a Calibration Engineer in the Southfield, MI area. This Engineer will join the Resident Engineering team and work onsite at an OEM (WFH at the moment) as an Engineering Representative and collaborate with cross functional teams to calibrate body electronic modules (for example: Body Control Module, Exterior Lighting Module, and Passive Entry Passive Start) for upcoming vehicle platforms and models. They will be responsible for supporting the calibration of electronic modules for all part numbers for an OEM customer. The Calibration Engineer will create and maintain documents with this calibration data and ensure it is complete and accurate for each part. They will be responsible for reporting / uploading the data into the OEMs tools. This engineer will also perform some bench or on-vehicle testing for the modules when needed.

Skills and Requirements
Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or experience in field w/ engineering degree
Minimum of Co-Op / Internship experience in automotive industry
Experience with electronic circuits or automotive electronic modules (HW)
Experience with calibration / measurement tools and associated data documentation (multi-meters, oscilloscopes, calibration lab equipment)
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Experience working at GM or with GM as a customer
Body Control Module or Exterior Lighting Module experience
HW Validation / Testing experience on bench or on vehicle null

Akkodis is seeking a Powertrain Calibration Engineer for a Contract job with a client in Auburn Hills, MI. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in powertrain calibration, validation, and system integration, particularly for automatic and hybrid transmissions.
Rate Range: $40.09/hour to $5.09/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Powertrain Calibration Engineer job responsibilities include:
- Lead calibration activities across various powertrain systems including engine, gearbox, and hybrid components.
- Conduct validation tests for drivability, torque management, gear shifts, and system behavior.
- Deliver calibrations at project milestones in accordance with PCA processes.
- Participate in development missions (hot, cold, altitude, temperate) and joint MaP sessions.
- Validate system behavior during gear shifts, lock-up management, and degraded modes.
- Calibrate torque blending, anti-stall, idle speed, and thermal models.
- Manage inter-system optimization, CAN communication calibration, and software downloads.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Proficiency in tools such as INCA, MDA, CRETA, Concerto, and Optisim.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, multiplexing, and PID control systems.
- Valid driver's license and necessary permits for testing.
- Experience in calibration for emissions, ECO modes, and regulatory compliance.
- High level of proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing).
Pay Details: 40.09 to 45.09 per hour

Five (5) years of experience as a Senior Engineer, Powertrain Research Intern, Development Engineer, or related role. Five (5) years of experience: Utilizing On-board diagnostics (OBD) calibration; Working on Feedback control calibrations, setpoints calibrations for base control, on board diagnostics calibrations, and fuel efficiency; Calibrating automotive powertrain embedded controls using advanced data analysis, model-based calibration techniques, dynamometer, environment test chambers and vehicle testing; Developing a test plan and executing on road vehicle test trips for calibration and validation of powertrain control software; Utilizing VCDM or CRETA for calibration submissions and the calibration release process; Utilizing VSPY/INCA for hardware setups, workspace creation, data acquisition, and troubleshooting ETAS and Intrepid equipment; Performing instrumentation and data acquisition setup for development vehicle; Utilizing MATLAB and Simulink for controller software comprehension and tool development to aid data analysis and calibration; Writing software code in C and C++; Performing Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) benches and collaborating with plant modeling teams, hardware teams, and laboratories to troubleshoot and resolve bench issues; Collecting data and flashing software and calibration packages on production powertrain controllers over CAN communication protocol (CCP) or other protocols; Utilizing Model-based development tools and techniques for virtual calibration process; Working within EPA Emissions regulations and CARB OBD regulations; and Communicating with production and development powertrain controllers using GMW3110 communication protocols.
