Joffe Emergency Services is looking to hire Campus Security Officers in the St. Louis, MO area . Our ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving the company's posture with client representatives, ensuring the highest quality of customer service is provided throughout all of the delivery systems within Joffe Emergency Services Security Division.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Act as first responder to all campus emergencies, medical and criminal, that could potentially be hazardous and/or life threatening.
  • Enforce campus policies and procedures relating to safety and security concerns.
  • Make regular inspection tours to ensure the safety and security of campus facilities and grounds.
  • Watch for trespassers, graffiti and vandalism, fire, water leaks, or other circumstances which could lead to loss or damage to property and equipment.
  • Unlock and lock buildings as scheduled for events as well as securing the campus following protocols and/or checklist.
  • Observe and report hazardous conditions to management.
  • Ensure inside and outside lights are turned on/off as required and inform the supervisor when any electrical or mechanical system is malfunctioning.
  • Ensure only authorized persons are admitted to the campus while on duty.
  • Direct visitors and assists as necessary.
  • Monitor parking lots and direct traffic and parking as necessary. This includes enforcing campus traffic regulations including parking, and speeding.
  • Enforce campus policies including smoking, alcohol usage, and drug usage.
  • Observe weather conditions on campus and report dangerous or unusual weather-related activity to management.
  • Assist in investigations of violations on school campus by viewing and analyzing camera footage, talking with witnesses, and writing incident reports.
  • Act as a liaison for the school campus with local law enforcement.
  • Provide awareness education/information on an informal basis to students and employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

    • Knowledge and proficiency in report writing and communication
    • Experience working in a school or educational campus environment a plus
    • High School Diploma
    • Proficient in reading and writing in English
    • CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (will train if not certified)
    • Must have a customer service driven mindset

Typical Post Duties
- Act as a First Responder to alarms and calls for service.
- Observe campus activities, reporting suspicious behavior and other incidents to Central Dispatch and/or a ranking officer within Public Safety.
- Enforce college rules and regulations as specified in Standard Operating Procedures.
- Check IDs and parking passes/decals (where applicable) of students, faculty, staff, and visitors, in accordance with the College's access policy.
- Answer department telephone lines, including emergency calls.
- Provide travel directions to college and to college campus buildings, offices, and services.
- Accept items to campus Lost and Found.

- Maintain a personal record (memo book) of daily job activities and incidents, as they occur, in the manner determined by the Campus Public Safety Director.
- When assigned, carefully monitor the premises through the campus CCTV system.

- Act as central dispatcher, when assigned.
- When assigned, maintain post and tour logs, guaranteeing that logs are kept current and entries are up-to-date.
- Maintain radio contact with the Department's Central Dispatch.

**CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION**
New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (CUNY) is a comprehensive college in downtown Brooklyn, offering associate and baccalaureate degree in technology and health related degree programs, other career-oriented degrees and liberal arts transfer degrees in its Schools of Arts and Sciences, Technology and Design, and Professional Studies. The Public Safety Department at City Tech is looking for hourly Campus Security Assistants to help ensure the safety and security of students, employees and visitors on City Tech's campus.
These are part-time positions (up to 32.5 hours per week, contingent on the department's needs and budget).
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
1. A valid New York State Security Guard License; **and**
2. A high school diploma or its educational equivalent from an accredited institution; **and**
a. One (1) year of satisfactory, full-time work experience; or
b. One (1) year of U.S. Military service; or
c. Thirty (30) semester credits from an accredited college or university.
**English Language Proficiency:** All candidates must be able to speak, read, write & understand English well enough to perform the duties of the position; proficiency will be evaluated at the time of interview.
**Note:** Candidates who receive a conditional appointment must also meet requirements A and B. Candidates may also be required to meet requirement C where applicable.
A. Candidates must meet physical, medical, and psychological requirements as defined in University examination standards. Candidates must pass a screen for drug usage. They may be required to demonstrate physical readiness for performing job tasks.
B. Candidates must also undergo a background check, including fingerprint screening.
C. For certain positions, a Driver's License valid in the State of New York may be required.
**Note:** **For some assignments, the possession of a Certificate of Fitness (F-89) issued by the New York City Fire Department will be required.**
**Requirements for Continued Employment:** Employees are expected to continue to meet the Qualification Requirements as a condition of continued employment. Any required certification is considered to be a form of licensure and must also be maintained.
Continued employment also depends on completing and successfully passing training courses or programs. Training may be required by the Senior Vice Chancellor for University Human Resources or the University Director of Public Safety. Training may also be required to comply with New York State Security Guard Licensing rules and regulations, and other laws and regulations.
All Campus Security Assistants are subject to random drug screening.
**COMPENSATION**
$19.10 per hour

3. United States Citizenship or Permanent Resident status.
4. High School Diploma or GED.
5. Valid New York State Security Guard License.
