**Description:**
This position will serve to support our affiliation with Roswell Park Cancer Care.
Located at the Main Hospital Campus on 1-1
Perdiem status to cover PTO, training and orientation up to 40 hours to start.
Previous experience with chemo and infusion required.
Plans and provides nursing interventions for individuals with cancer and cancer related health care problems; treats human responses to actual or potential health problems through such services as patient care, health teaching, and health counseling; executes medical regimens prescribed by a physician or other licensed health care provider authorized by the state of New York.

Responsibilities:
+ Administer chemotherapy agents and pre-medications
+ Assess lab results and vital signs
+ Mix chemotherapy agents and pre-medications
+ Obtain vascular access via Peripheral IV, A-port or PICC line
+ Patient education on discharge/post treatment
+ Tumor and registry entry
+ Patient tracking for oral chemo and Mediport maintenance
+ Monitor and evaluate patients throughout infusion
+ Complete treatment plans
+ Phone triage
+ Adheres to all the regulatory requirements and professional standards such as ONS as applicable to the specific area of nursing practice
+ Performs nursing assessment that includes the holistic needs of each patient with consideration of his/her physiological, psychological, social, ethnic, cultural, educational and spiritual strengths and needs. Includes the patient and family and/or support system in the planning and delivery of care
+ Ensures that patient safety is a priority goal in the delivery of healthcare
+ Provides direct patient care activities with other professional disciplines to ensure that the plan of nursing intervention is consistent with and integrated with the total treatment plan
+ Administers medications, IV fluids in a safe and efficient manner following established policies and procedures
+ Demonstrates knowledge of and indications for dosage, route, action, side effects, contraindications, and adverse reactions of medication
+ Provides health education/teaching for patients and their designated significant others
+ Confers with nursing staff and other members of the healthcare team regarding condition of patients and/or any unusual events or problems to ensure continuity of care
+ Adheres to the RPCI Oncology, PC standard for Employee Conduct
Other Duties:
+ Protects patient's privacy, confidentiality, and their rights as health care consumers.
+ Demonstrates an understanding of and is compliant with HIPAA regulations. Is able to define own level of access for minimum necessary requirements.
+ Complies with and is knowledgeable of Institute and department policies/procedures and standards of care
+ Completes and maintains certification for the Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Course
+ Acquires and/or maintains the necessary education and skills required to address competencies
+ Attends/completes required mandatory in-services on an annual basis
+ Attends education programs offered which have relevance to the special needs of assigned patient population, new products, equipment, policies/procedures, and clinical care
+ Enhances professional growth and development by participating in educational programs, reading current literature, and participating in in-service meetings and workshops
+ Attends meetings as required.

Pay Range: $33.00 - $45.70
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.

Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine is an international leader in cancer treatment, research, prevention, education and community outreach. It is the only cancer center in Missouri and within a 240-mile radius of St. Louis to hold the prestigious Comprehensive Cancer Center designation from the National Cancer Institute and membership in the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. The 24/7 Cancer Care Clinic features an outpatient treatment area for patients to come in for scheduled appointments to receive chemotherapy, blood products, IV hydration, central line and port care, phlebotomy, etc. The scheduled infusion space is staffed with staff nurses and patient care technicians. There are also Nurse Practitioners in the Cancer Care Clinic who see patients in a patient care room setting within the clinic for symptom management concerns. This allow Oncology patients from the Siteman Cancer Center to receive care for some urgent needs. These patients are managed by the Nurse Practitioners and cared for the the staff nurses and PCTs. Additionally, when patients need to be admitted to the hospital, the Cancer Care Clinic begins the care for some of these patients who meet specific criteria.

The Outpatient Cancer Care Clinic Clinical Nurse provides direct nursing care to oncology patients, including assessment, treatment administration, symptom management, and education on post-treatment care. This role operates primarily in a 24/7 outpatient infusion clinic setting at Barnes-Jewish Hospital’s Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center, supporting patients receiving chemotherapy and other cancer-related treatments. The nurse collaborates with an interprofessional team to ensure patient-centered, high-quality care while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
Additional Information About the Role- 12 Hour Shifts available in an Outpatient Clinic
- Night Shift: 7:00 pm - 7:30 am
- Approximately every 8th weekend rotation
- Oncology or Critical Care experience preferred
- Up to $15,000 Sign-On Bonus

- Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.
- Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.
- Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
