General Responsibilities

Position is responsible for coaching student athletes in meets/game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competitions. Position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport.

Essential Duties

(These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.)
  1. Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential athletes to participate in the sport.
  2. Assesses student's skills and assigns team positions.
  3. Adequate use of training time by establishing a regular practice schedule, incorporating routines and meaningful drills designed to maximize individual and team development based on skill assessment.
  4. Collaborates with the athletics director in scheduling parent/guardian preseason meetings, facilities for practices and competitions, and rescheduling of meets/games.
  5. Assigns duties to an assistant coach as necessary.
  6. Coaches and instructs students, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
  7. Observes students, during competition and practice to determine the needs for individual or team
improvement. Provides verbal and/or physical demonstrations to teach proper skills and corrects observed improper techniques of student athletes. Ability to lead a practice independently, designing specific drills to maximize skill levels of individual athletes.
  1. Determines meets/game strategy based on the team's capabilities.
  2. Establishes and maintains high-level standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision of athletes at all times including practices.
  3. Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met; and encourages student athletes to maintain a high academic standard.
  4. Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury.
  5. Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the athletic performance of their students, and establishes an ongoing communication system to inform parent/guardians of needs/updates related to the sport.
  6. Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletic program.
  7. Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards students, officials, and spectators while instilling a competitive spirit.
  8. Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
  9. Works with the athletic director to develop a policy for awards and submits a list of award winners at the end of the season.
  10. Participates in special activities to include parent's night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
  11. Maintains eligibility forms, emergency data cards, insurance records, equipment inventory, and other related records.
  12. Models non discriminatory practices in all activities.
  13. Follows WSC bylaws and abides by conference demands, including but not limited to updating contest scores timely, timely communication with game day text threads, inputting rosters, providing ref check/voucher as needed, and informing parents/guardians of athletic events that charge an entrance fee.

  • High school (or higher level) playing/coaching experience, excellent communication and organization skills. Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills to provide constructive feedback during practice and competition. Must possess a thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport. Must be able to plan and independently lead effective practices and warm-ups associated with the sport. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students. Must be able to perform duties indoors and outdoors with exposure to inclement weather.

Minimum Qualifications

Work Environment

This role requires working in the office five days a week in Des Plaines. You will be the manager's right-hand person, taking initiative and being self-sufficient, especially when the manager splits time between other locations. The work environment is dynamic and engaging, with direct mentorship from the VP of HR.
Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.

Job Description

We are seeking a talented and strategic Talent Acquisition Specialist who will partner with hiring managers to understand workforce needs and develop tailored recruiting strategies. You will source, screen, and present qualified candidates for roles across project management, field operations, and corporate functions. Utilizing data and market insights, you will guide hiring decisions and improve time-to-fill metrics. As the primary point of contact for staffing vendors, you will evaluate vendor performance, negotiate terms, and ensure alignment with hiring standards and DEI goals. You will also design and implement repeatable systems for candidate tracking, interview coordination, and hiring manager feedback, continuously improving recruiting workflows to enhance efficiency and candidate experience. Collaborating with marketing and HR, you will promote the employer brand through social media, job fairs, and industry events, and build and maintain talent pipelines for critical roles and future hiring needs.

Responsibilities

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $52.88/hr.
