The Impact You Will Have
The Capital Markets Team is seeking to hire a collaborative and driven Analyst responsible for financial analysis and market research related to the financing of properties in primary and secondary markets across the country. The Analyst will primarily assist in sizing and underwriting commercial real estate assets, gathering and organizing due diligence, and interfacing with both internal producers and external clients to successfully procure financing for acquisition, development, and refinance transactions. This role will support multiple production teams in a floating capacity.
Primary Responsibilities
- Reviewing/preparing cash flow models using Excel and calculating investment returns
- Performing market research and financial due diligence
- Writing, preparing, and assembling Investment Memoranda
- Maintaining transaction records and contact database
- Assisting in the identification and pursuit of business leads
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Attendance is generally 8:00 am 5:30 pm local time Monday through Friday
- Bachelors degree (prefer finance and/or real estate concentration)
- 1 plus years of experience in Finance, Real Estate, or related field preferred
- Excellent financial modeling skills including thorough knowledge of Excel, and ARGUS a plus
- Proficiency in MS Outlook and Word, ability to learn Salesforce and other company software as needed
- Proven written and oral communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to accurately and productively handle multiple tasks during time sensitive situations

Summary of Role
The Capital Markets Analyst / Senior Analyst (we could hire at either level depending on experience!) will be responsible for capital markets activities spanning across capital raising, execution, and modeling work to support the advancement of those opportunities. This is an individual contributor role.
Strategic & Tactical
- Focus on developing and executing Excel financial models to support Tax Equity and Debt capital funding
- Lead the execution of tax equity, debt, and equity funding processes with external stakeholders
- Responsible for reporting associated with Palmetto Finance to key financial stakeholders, while partnering with technology teams to ensure automation on reports
- Utilizes skills to enhance existing processes and workflows for more efficiency, partnering closely with other teams e.g. Data Analytics, Operations, etc
- Liaisons with Corporate Finance, Treasury, Asset Management, and Accounting to ensure partnership and transparency on all things Palmetto Finance
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with key banks and other key external partners

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field; master's or MBA a plus

The Senior Capital Markets Analyst position performs quantitative analytics used to effectively execute the Banks portfolio management, asset liability management, mortgage loan origination, debt issuance, and liquidity management strategies. This role assesses strategic opportunities and risks identified within the Banks profitability and cash flow forecasting process, interest rate and prepayment modeling and/or mortgage pricing models, and evaluates the impact of various interest rate scenarios and market conditions. This role is a key contributor in the development, implementation, and cross-departmental coordination of value-add quantitative analytical activities that drive the Capital Markets divisions forward-looking decision-making process, pricing models, hedging strategies, and overall balance sheet and portfolio management.
Accountabilities:
Responsibilities/Duties/Function/Tasks:
- Perform quantitative analytics used in balance sheet management, portfolio management and pricing models, including mortgage pricing and prepayment modeling, balance sheet funding and hedging, liquidity management and/or income forecasting
- Develop analytical methods and models that measure and analyze the Banks exposure to changes in interest rates and other market and business factors under numerous scenarios
- Understand key drivers of risks including interest rate, prepayment, liquidity, capital management, and income risks and provide forward-looking recommendations to improve financial performance
- Analyze and recommend hedging strategies for the Banks mortgage loan portfolio, including the mortgage pipeline
- Analyze market, housing and macro-economic trends and collaborate with internal traders and external sell-side institutions to obtain relevant market information
- Conduct research and financial analysis using fixed income analytics tools such as Polypaths, Principia, and Quantitative Risk Management (QRM)
- Assess model performance and develop quantitative analysis to recommend and support changes, as appropriate
- Implement and maintain asset and liability modeling systems to ensure the utilization of the best analytics systems for the Bank
- Research, design and implement new quantitative models and reports
- Manage, develop, and implement efficiencies and effective controls related to departmental EUCs, models, processes related to portfolio management, asset liability management, mortgage loan origination, and debt issuance
- Represent the Portfolio Strategy Team in Bank-wide projects while gathering key requirements, coordinating cross-department initiatives, performing appropriate testing, finding solutions, and obtaining model validation
- Develop, enhance, and present committee reports for various senior management and Board committees, including the use of dashboard tools
- Bachelors degree in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics or other quantitative/computing fields
- At least 2-3 years of experience related to balance sheet management, fixed income, complex financial instruments such as mortgages or derivatives, or financial modeling and reporting
- Advanced degree (Masters) or CFA charter holder or similar certification preferred
- Highly proficient computer skills in Access, Excel, Word, and Visual Basic
- Experience running ALM, capital markets, balance sheet management and/or other financial software preferred, such as QRM or Polypaths

Annual Salary: $100,204.00 - $18,993.00
This salary range represents the Banks good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of hire. Offer to be determined by selected applicants education, experience, knowledge, skills & abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This role is also eligible to participate in the Banks annual incentive plan.
