Bowhead Marine Support Services is accepting resumes for a Captain to operate a 41' utility boat conducting operations in the Gulf of America. Position is located in Dauphin Island, Mobile County, Alabama.
**Responsibilities**
LOCATION: Vessel departs and returns from Dauphin Island, Alabama (Mobile County). Due to the mission requirements for this task order, ONLY local Mobile County residents capable of responding/arriving to assigned dock location in a timely manner will be considered.

+ Ensures safety equipment is utilized and appropriate guidelines and all applicable SOP's are followed for all tasks involving physical risk or hazardous materials.
+ Knowledge of shipboard safety procedures and use of all firefighting and safety equipment, highly desired.
+ Participate in meetings, training, drills and safety audits as required.

**Qualifications**
+ USCG Merchant Marine Master's license 100 ton or greater, required. Plus TWIC card.
+ Minimum of two (2) years of experience operating twin inboard powered vessels greater than 40 feet in length required.
+ Local resident of Mobile County preferred due to location of vessels and mission activity.
+ Military experience preferred. Coast Guard or Navy experience highly desired.
+ Ability to multi task between multiple helicopter pilots, monitoring current and any approaching weather, ability to log entries into ships log, manage boat operations from dock to dock, keep PM informed on any developing situations.
+ General PC knowledge required including; spreadsheet software, word processing software and knowledge of MS Office Suite.
+ Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
+ Individual should have stability under pressure and have the ability to withstand the stresses associated with the job's physical demands, potentially hazardous situations, and unpredictable weather.
Physical Demands: The work environment varies and includes, but is not limited to: dock, port, bay, waterways, office space, equipment rooms, warehouse space, construction zones, and outdoor environments. **Essential Functions:**
+ Directs overall supervision of correctional officers and Inmates; supervises schedules, instructs, trains, and ensures the safety of assigned employees and Inmates; and assists in formulating security and work procedures.
+ Supervises and directs searches for contraband; counts, feeds, and supervises Inmates in housing, work, and other areas.
+ Participate in the interview and selection process of new employees, including making recommendations for new hires and promotions.
+ Provide staff training, evaluate staff performance, investigate staff misconduct and implement organizational and personnel changes as approved by the warden and coordinated with the human resources manager prior to implementation.
+ Supervises and provides custody and security of Inmates including observing actions of Inmates performing "pat" and "strip" searches of Inmates, restraining and securing sometimes assaultive Inmates, and transferring and transporting Inmates by walking, driving, or riding in various vehicles.
+ Supervises and provides security for Inmates performing technical skills such as construction, maintenance, laundry, and food service which involves working outdoors and indoors.
+ Responds to emergencies including climbing stairs, steps, and ladders while searching for escaped Inmates, hearing calls for and calling for help, giving first aid at the emergency site, carrying an injured or unconscious Inmate or employee various distances to safety up or down stairs, steps, and ladders; and uses force and deadly force to include the use of chemical agents and firearms to control Inmates.
+ Reads, reviews, and properly applies information found in Inmate records which is related to the Inmate's health and safety and to the security of the facility; provides appropriate information to other staff; complies with all policies, procedures, rules, and regulations; enforces Inmate disciplinary rules; and supervises the preparation and maintenance of records, forms, and reports.
+ The incumbent is expected to work extended hours as directed.
+ Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
+ Maintain accountability of staff, Inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.
**Education and Experience Requirements:**
+ Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
+ Four (4) years full-time, wage-earning correctional custody or law enforcement experience, to include two (2) years in the supervision of employees.
+ At least one (1) year of required supervisory experience must be as a mid-level manager (supervisor of supervisors). Operational Review Sergeant or Security Threat Group Sergeant experience may be substituted for required supervisory experience for a maximum substitution of one (1) year. Thirty (30) semester hours, with a minimum of six (6) semester hours in Criminal Justice, from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one (1) year of the required non-supervisory experience.
+ Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
**Post Hire Requirements:**
Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements to include physical agility testing and pass an annual background check, both of which must be approved by TDCJ.

Job Description
A Captain is a crucial touch point between our customers and the business and he or she works with our customers to ensure an understanding of overall boat operations and services. A successful Delivery Captain coordinates the activities of customers and team members engaged in launching, retrieving and servicing boats. The Delivery Captain also coordinates customer education classes to help familiarize the customer with their new or used boat.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties (Most Important to Least Important)
Delivers boats to customer location, boat ramp, boat shows, marinas or other destinations as needed.
Properly explains features and provide thorough orientation to customers upon delivery.
Demonstrates additional boating merchandise i.e., aftermarket electronics and navigational equipment.
Coordinates with the Team to establish delivery date to customer and arranges delivery of boat to the specified location.
Services boat with fuel and assists in casting off and tying up boat.
Performs minor engine and systems repairs and adjustments as needed.
Conducts periodic training classes to help reinforce our customers boating passion.
Demonstrates boats on the water, at off-site events and in the showroom as needed.
Professionally support customer events including, but not limited to Slipaways, Rendezvous, etc.
Trains the Team on boat handling and safety, as needed.
Completes minor preventive maintenance on company owned boats on display in the water, including but not limited to cleaning of strainers, starting vessel and checking all systems, topping off water in batteries.
Other duties as assigned.
