The Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine department at Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) specializes in diagnosing and treating a broad spectrum of pulmonary conditions such as asthma, COPD, emphysema, and lung nodules, in addition to various sleep disorders. Their team of medical professionals provides expert care for both urgent and chronic conditions, serving patients in both hospital and outpatient settings.
**Position Summary:**
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse, in collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals, addresses the comprehensive needs of patients across the spectrum of wellness, acute illness, chronic disease management, disability, and end-of-life care. Employing a systematic nursing process, the Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse conducts problem-focused assessments of patient concerns within clinic and telephonic environments. Practice is consistently aligned with the standards set forth by the Massachusetts State Nursing Act and Cambridge Health Alliance's defined Registered Nurse roles, responsibilities, and competencies.
**Responsibilities:**
Coordinates patient treatment plan between referring physician, program medical director, cardiologist, and multidisciplinary team
Utilizes the results of evidence-based research to improve clinical outcomes
Performs initial assessment of patient upon admission to program and follows progress through discharge
Document patient progress and maintain accurate medical records.
Reviews and tracks patient's goals
Monitors patient's cardiovascular status during exercise sessions, reports any untoward symptoms to physician/ program medical director
Communicates patient status change or progress to referring physician
Works with multidisciplinary team to assess risk factor profile and provide weekly education to Cardiac Rehab patients
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities
Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, including infection control protocols.
Stay updated on current trends and advancements in cardiac care.
Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and their families.
**Qualifications/Requirements:**
Previous experience in a cardiac rehab program preferred
Strong cardiac background, arrhythmia detection. EKG Interpretation
Work experience in ICU, step down, and/or telemetry specialty preferred
Graduate of a state approved and/or accredited RN program required. BSN Preferred
BLS and ACLS Required

**Hours:** 7:00a - 3:30p
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Responsible to the Coordinator of designated area of Cardiovascular Center for maintaining patient flow, design of exercise parameters and maintenance of overall safety of patient during exercise / testing sessions.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):**
+ Master of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology and/or other Allied Health related degree required
+ ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification) required within six months of hire
+ CPR / BLS certificate for Health Care Providers required
+ A minimum of 6 months clinical cardiovascular experience or equivalent internship.
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):**
+ ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) Exercise Specialist Certification desired
+ Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP) or AACVPR (American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (CCRP)
+ Certified Cardiac Rehab Professional desired
