Overview

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Nursing Care Center RN - Field Representative, surveys long term nursing care organizations throughout the United States. Applies systems analysis skills and inductive reasoning skills to determine health care organizations' degree of compliance with applicable standards and functionality of care delivery systems. Engages health care organization staff in interactive dialogues on standards based issues in health care in order to assess compliance and to identify opportunities for improving compliance. Prepares management reports that clearly link individual standards deficiencies with potential systems vulnerabilities and related organization risk points. Effectively communicates this information to health care organization leadership in a constructive and collegial style. Participates in other Joint Commission activities as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, CREDENTIALS AND ABILITIES: Field Representatives must have the following essential knowledge, credentials, characteristics and abilities:

* Qualified candidates must be a graduate of approved school of nursing and hold a Master's degree in appropriate discipline.
* Current professional license in discipline required at time at time of hire and must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.
* Nursing Home Administration license preferred.
* Candidates must have five years of experience working in various components of a long term care, including three years direct clinical experience, and two years senior management experience.
* Ideal candidates will have experience in a culturally diverse work environment; Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
* The team players we select to take on these highly visible, challenging roles will have strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills, expertise in interviewing, and PC proficiency.
* Certification requirement: You must hold a CPHQ certification (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) through National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) at time of hire or by December 31, 2028.

Full-time and part-time positions are currently available. Candidates interested in part time positions must be available to work two or three weeks per month, and must provide three or four weeks of availability for the purpose of scheduling. All positions require 100% nationwide travel.

Physical Abilities:

Must be able to observe, in real time and without slowing or otherwise interrupting the progress of, all applicable types of ongoing health care treatment (e.g., including emergency treatment, treatment during weather and other extreme situations, etc.). Standing for long periods of time, walking lengthy distances, lifting, climbing, stooping, pulling, and pushing in order to adequately inspect and observe all medical facilities, equipment and procedures, such as emergency exit procedures, remote storage facilities, any areas where cleanliness may affect the possibility of infection, medical equipment, etc., including the following activities:

* walking up and down stairways (e.g., to test escape routes, assess safety of emergency exits, regulatory compliance, etc.);
* removing obstructed covers or impediments to equipment or other mechanical areas;
* examining small and often dirty printed labels and print on equipment;
* Must be able to engage in extensive travel as set forth above, including driving a car to remote locations, flying on small airplanes and into small airports, traveling in all types of weather conditions, etc

    Job Description:

    • Assure quality dietary services by directing, coordinating, and supervising Dietary Services staff.
    • Assume responsibility as Dietary Services Director in accordance with local, state, and federal sanitation and other laws regulating food service, as well as Facility policies and procedures.
    • Coordinates food service to assure patients receive nutritious, attractively, served diets as ordered by their attending physician in accordance with approved corporate menu cycle.
    • Participates in Care Plans & MDS conferences.
    • Completes nutritional assessments and dietary sections of MDS.
    • Prepares and monitors work schedule for dietary services staff.
    • Monitors the orientation and training of dietary services employees per Facility policy.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    Job Requirements:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Graduate of a Dietary Manager Training program, which has been approved by the Dietary Managers Association and pass the National Certification exam.
    • Keep current 'card' (certification) by attending seminars and/or workshops, completing at least 45 hours every three years.
    • Knowledgeable of cost accounting, record keeping, budget planning, menu planning, diet therapy, and purchasing procedures, as well as dietary management, and serve on related committees as needed.
    • Demonstrated experience with MDS and the ability to accurately assess nutritional needs of residents.
    • Leadership ability and organization skills.
    • Read, know and follow personnel, department and Facility procedures.
    • Comply with DMA Code of Ethics and Standards of Performance.

    • Administers all medications (oral, s.q., I.M., or I.V.) as ordered by M.D. and according to Facility policies.
    • Leads, guides, and supervises nursing assistants and orderlies.
    • Assists physicians with rounds as needed.
    • Drapes, remains with and cares for patients during MD rounds, physical examinations, and treatments as necessary.
    • Performs treatments scheduled during shift and documents appropriately. Maintains infection control measures as necessary.
    • Adheres to all regulations pertaining to cleanliness, infection control, and Standard/Universal Precautions.
    • Assists with research related to the quality of nursing care, as assigned.
    • Assists with records, orders, and assessment of new admissions unit/hall. Assists with scheduling patients annual physical with attending physician and ensures physicals and documentation of physical are done on a timely basis.
    Job Requirements:
    • Registered Nurse, graduated from an accredited School of Nursing.
    • Current, valid license from North Carolina Board of Nursing and submit proof of license renewal every other year.
    • Provide quality-nursing care to patients, follow doctor orders, genuine interest in geriatric nursing.
    • CPR certified yearly.
    • Attend in-service training and other staff meetings as required.
    • Ability to supervise nursing assistants assuring that work assignments are completed appropriately and timely.
    • Dependable, flexible, and able to work and cooperate well with all nursing personnel, other departments and have understanding, patience, and tact in working with patients, families, doctors, and others.
    • Ability to make decisions regarding nursing problems, realizing that errors and incompetence may have serious consequences for patients.

    Job Description:

    • Serves as a Social Worker for the Facility.
    • Coordinates patient discharges in accordance with established policies and with state and federal licensor requirements.
    • Monitors to assure appropriate sections of MDS are completed as assigned.
    • Assures that a meaningful social program appropriate to the needs of each patient is met.
    • Refers all residents or families to the appropriate agency or resource if service cannot be met within the Facility.
    • Works closely with Unit Directors/RN Supervisors and resident and/or family members for input regarding admissions, discharges and room changes.
    • Assists with admissions of new residents, completion of related paperwork, and acclimation to the new environment.
    • Assists families or residents with discharge placement and discharge information as needed.
    Job Requirements:
    • Four year degree and one year of experience in the health care field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations as relates to social needs of patients.
    • Admission and or discharge planning experience preferred.
