Our client is seeking a Technical Consultants in Westwood, MA
Role Description
• The California Department of Technology (CDT) requires technical staff augmentation services for the Compute & Storage Branch. Infrastructure Services is responsible for setting strategic direction and policies to manage the support of a multi-vendor, multi-platform, computing environment of hardware and software that support programs for approximately 450 customers under the State of California Executive Branch, as well as 58 counties and network connectivity to more than 2000 sites throughout California. The CDT computing environment is required to be accessible to all customer departments and other individuals connected to our network on a 24 x 7 basis. The Compute & Storage Branch is a vital component to the success of the CDT meeting its strategic and tactical plans.
The Compute & Storage Branch has been at workload capacity for some time. Efforts are underway to implement efficiencies that will allow existing staff to handle that is increasing because of the volume of projects already underway and those waiting on resources. These efforts include implementing automation to reduce current workloads and free staff to perform more important and value-added work. If this resource contention is not addressed, critical services will become at risk, CDT customers will be negatively impacted, and customer escalations will increase. CDT must mitigate exposure to these risks with a long-term solution. CDT seeks this exemption for contractors to provide technical expertise to accomplish automation for the Compute & Storage Branch in Infrastructure Services.
Skills & Requirements
• The Contractor shall provide two (2) consultants who each meet the qualifications described below. Staff Experience Worksheet (Attachment 3) and resume must validate that the proposed consultant meets the mandatory qualifications (MQs). Staff experience must have occurred within the last one (1) year for each MQ.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with Datacenter Infrastructure.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with Server & Technologies - HPE, VMware, DR, IBM, Lenovo, Brocade, Virtualization.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with Server, Storage, Virtualization, Networking, DR in Architecture and Automation.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with Software Defined Networking (SDN), and Network Function Virtualization (NFV).
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with VMWare NSX used in the data center context.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with Scripting languages such as Python, Java, Shell, and Perl.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with Cloud and virtualization technologies, such as open stack and VMware vCloud.

- Problem Solving & Troubleshooting:
* Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to users.
* Knowledge of best practices for system maintenance and user support.
*Providing technical assistance to staff members, troubleshooting issues, and resolving problems related to hardware, software, and network connectivity.
- User Account Management:
*Creating and managing system permissions, user and computer accounts.
*Ensuring proper access controls and security measures.
- Security & Monitoring:
*Regularly performing security tests and monitoring system security.
*Implementing security protocols, firewalls, and backups.
*Familiarity with government regulations, compliance ans security standards (e.g. NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP).
- Network Maintenance:
*Maintaining networks and network file systems in partnership with SAA.
*Collaborating with SAA network administrators to ensure seamless communication and connectivity.
- Continuous Learning and Adaptability:
* Willingness to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and advancements in both software and hardware.
* Flexibility to adapt to evolving technical environments and user needs.
Qualifications- A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (such as computer science, information technology, or business administration) is often required.
- 5+ years of direct customer support experience.
Additional Requirements:
- In-depth knowledge of IT systems, infrastructure, and software development.
- Exceptional verbal and written communications skills required to prepare and deliver technical briefings and reports to SAA staff and/or hardware and software vendors.
- Experience supporting both Windows and Apple environments with associated back-up solutions and the ability to install and troubleshoot hardware and software in both.
- Experience supporting IOS and Android devices.
- Must be able to effectively teach concepts to customers.
