Job Summary/Basic Function:
This part-time position (up to 19.5 hours/week) is exclusively for clinicians who are currently Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) or Licensed Master Social Workers (LMSW) in Idaho and would like to pursue their advanced licensure (LCPC/LCSW) in a clinical setting that is focused on training and clinical development. This position is responsible for providing direct and indirect professional counseling services for Boise State students, faculty and staff within the scope of services offered by Counseling Services. Direct services include treatment for the full range of mental conditions, including complex mental disorders. Treatment modalities provided by this position include individual, multi-person, group counseling, crisis intervention, and psychological assessment. Indirect services include case management, supervision, consultation, collaboration with departments across campus, and outreach/preventive programming. This position collaborates and consults with other counselors, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists and medical providers, as well as all other Health Services staff and the greater Boise State community to ensure effective treatment.
Level Scope:
Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience to contribute on a project or work team. Incumbent learns to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity under close supervision while achieving day-to-day objectives. Works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision making. This level is typically focused on self-development. Requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training.
Essential Functions:
65% of the time Clinical Services:
- Provide direct service counseling, individual, couple, group and crisis intervention, triage coverage and psychological assessment.
- Documentation of clinical services, collaborate with other Health Services providers and community to best manage clinical caseload and ensure effective treatment.
- Participate in the training and supervision related to duties as a member of the Counseling Services Fellowship.
- Provide outreach/preventative programming in the form of presentations, training, workshops for the Boise State Community.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Clinical/Counseling
- Provide individual, multi-person and group counseling.
- Apply multicultural competence/humility, empathy, advance listening skills, problem solving, wide repertoire of intervention strategies.
- Knowledge and practice of ethical principles.
- Mastery of personal and interpersonal dynamics, assessment skills, strong diagnostic skills.
- Understand abnormal behavior/psychopathology.
- Experience and/or desire to work on a highly integrated clinical team that includes weekly individual and group clinical supervision.

- Ability to teach in a wide variety of psychology topical areas.
- Provide crisis counseling and intervention management - utilize, maintain up-to-date intervention skills related to high risk populations and community resources in mental health, case management skills based on relevant knowledge and principles of case management.

This is a professional position responsible for the instruction of one or more subjects to K-12 school students.
JOB TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Instructs students, using various teaching methods, including lectures and demonstrations.
2. Prepares course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines.
3. Assigns lessons; assesses student's progress including homework assignments; and hears presentations.
4. Prepares and administers tests to evaluate pupil progress, records results, issues reports to inform parents of progress and assigns final grades.
5. Maintains attendance and grade records as required by school.
6. Counsels pupils when adjustment and academic problems arise.
7. Maintains discipline in the classroom.
8. Meets with parents to discuss pupils' academic, social and behavioral progress.

10. Performs related work as required or as assigned by the supervising administrator or his/her designee.

Understands duty to warn and makes CPS or APS when warranted as well as informs supervisor within 24 hours of call
REQUIREMENTS:
Education, Experience, and Certification:
Experience with child and family strongly preferred
Fluent in Spanish in a clinical context, strongly preferred
In a graduate program working towards Master's Degree in social services related field (counseling, social work, child, couple family therapy, and case management skills).
Experience working with seriously and persistently mentally ill adult populations
Additional certification requirements: Work towards one or more of: Infant mental health specialist, Child mental health specialist, Geriatric mental health, Developmentally delayed mental health specialist

In this role, the intern will work in our Outreach Outpatient program in Richmond Hill, NY. The Intern Counselor is responsible for learning the aspects of the delivery and implementation of long-term supervision, support and clinical services to a population of chemically dependent clients with co-occurring and mental health disorders.

The Counseling Advisor is responsible for advising new, continuing, and returning students in support of the College's mission and strategic plan objectives. Working within a team environment, the Advisor is responsible for executing and facilitating program goals by advising/coaching a full caseload of students. The Advisor will deliver all required and optional services which are designed to increase student success, graduation, and career readiness under the direct supervision of the Director, Advisement and Retention.
Travel will be required, as this position will work on both the Gloucester and Cumberland Campuses.
Examples of Duties
- Develops and maintains a cohort of identified Degree and Academic Certification seeking students for individual and group advisement?
- Provides orientation and academic advisement to new, continuing, returning, and visiting students for appropriate course selection and case-management-style student services. Emphasis is placed on facilitating the success of academically at-risk students.
- Under the direction of Advisement leadership, coordinates and executes the New Student Orientation in partnership with Gloucester Advisement.
- Engage in initiatives that support the new RCSJ Advisement model, including but not limited to cross-campus staff meetings, system training, fostering relationships with divisions and deans, and keeping current with relevant updates and changes.
- Provides excellent customer service by assisting with walk-in/virtual registration, maintaining a regular calendar of advising appointments and support of college activities related to student success, retention, and transfer.
- Participates in orientation, registration, retention, and open house activities and is knowledgeable about college's programs, resources, course sequencing and course selection with the ability to interpret the degree evaluation results to assist student with creating their educational goals.
- Provides each cohort student intrusive case management throughout the academic year to review progress toward goals, to assess and review progress toward established goals, and provide advocacy for student success.
- Assists with planning, implementing, and conducting skills-development workshops deemed necessary for total student enrichment, based on students' needs.
- Assists Director to develop, measure effectiveness of, and modify intervention strategies and report on those activities.
- Makes student referrals to RCSJ and community resources and supportive services, such as, but not limited to cohort programs, Academic Support Center, Wellness Center, Career & Internship, Special Services, Rowan University Center, etc.
- Leverages technology to monitor the progress of assigned students, proactively identifying potential graduates, risks of probation or academic leave, and factors that may affect or improve academic success.
- Completes required paperwork, reports and assigned tasks in an accurate and timely manner.
- Ensures the integrity and confidentiality of academic records, maintaining compliance with FERPA, and other college policies, state, and federal regulations.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree in counseling, student personnel services, student development, or a related area required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Applicable experience advising students in a community college or similar environment.
- Ability to use current applicable hardware and software, including Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point
- Applicable experience with higher education system administration software.
- Demonstrated success in collaborating with all levels of the institution, and ability to work effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community with a strong commitment to a comprehensive community college philosophy and a student-centered learning environment.

- Ability to work a flexible schedule with variable hours, includes evenings and possible weekends.
- Ability to travel to multiple educational institutions, utilizing personal vehicle for travel

Pension Benefits:
Participation in the New Jersey State Pension System is a requirement of employment. This position requires enrollment in the Alternate Benefit Plan (ABP) . ABP is a defined contribution plan that offers substantial opportunities for long term tax-deferred investment. Medical: RCSJ offers its employees several health insurance options through the NJ State Health Benefit Program as a local education employer. All employees are required to contribute to the cost of their health benefits under Chapter 78, P.L. 2011.
Dental: The College offers dental insurance through Delta Dental with four plan options (base plan is free to employees).
Group Life Insurance:
Life Insurance is underwritten by the Prudential Insurance Company of America, Inc., and is provided as a result of pension membership. There is no cost to the member for this coverage. The State Treasurer is the official policyholder for all the Noncontributory Group Life Insurance, which is issued as Policy Number G-14800 .
Flexible Spending Accounts:
The flexible spending program allows you to deduct pre-tax dollars which can be used for co-pays, deductibles, dental, vision, and dependent day care. The medical limit is $,650 per year, and the dependent care limit is 5,000 per year.
Tuition Reimbursement/Waiver - RCSJ offers tuition reimbursement for up to 12 credits per fiscal year. The College also offer a tuition waiver for RCSJ courses for employees and eligible dependents.
