Experience with metal framing, drywall, patch/repair, ceiling tile replacement and painting required. Installation of cabinets, base and casing required. Some electrical knowledge, plumbing and tile work a plus!

Attention to detail, ability to work as a team and a positive attitude are a must! Requires work in the evening or overnight. Must be able to travel extensively throughout the U.S. Experience in Retail Construction environment preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Experience with remodels for nationwide big/small box retailers and retail setting carpentry preferred, but not required.

  • Report any project issues through chain of command, especially those affecting costs.
  • Demonstrate safe and responsible use of tools.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively to teammates to ensure timely completion of duties.

Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING: Relevant retail experience with full understanding of concepts, practices, and procedures in commercial retail carpentry/installation projects. Must possess your own tools for entire work scope. General math and problem solving skills.

COMPUTER SKILLS ; Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications and applicable software systems for reporting purposes.

General Summary

This is an advanced Journeyman position which performs carpentry work, flooring, glass work, door/window work and as required lock work regardless of the nature or complexity of the work. Duties: -Assist in measuring, cutting and assembling wood and metal parts for molds and forms •Carry and organize tools, materials and equipment as directed by lead carpenters •Prep molds for concrete casting •Help maintain a clean, organized and safe carpenter shop environment •Load and unload materials and equipment •Basic knowledge and use of hand & power tools under supervision (saws, drills, hammers, grinders, etc.) •Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE •Perform other general labor duties as assigned by supervisors or carpenters Pay: $22+/hr (depending on experience). Overview

The Carpenter Helper will assist skilled craftsperson(s) by performing supportive duties as directed and will work under immediate supervision. Must have a general knowledge of carpentry and use of hand and power tools to assist the Carpenter and/or Carpenter Foreman with various tasks. Assist Carpenter/Carpenter Foreman with designing, constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing of structures, fixtures and other items of wood, plywood and wallboard. Helper will look for opportunities for improvement in all tasks, means and methods regarding the work, and be willing to learn from others. Must learn and understand all safety hazards related to the work and learn to safely and effectively use or operate work related tools and equipment. Will be required to work in a plant operations or construction jobsite setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Carpenter in laying out work
  • Assist Carpenter with lifting, positioning, securing, and cutting of materials during installation
  • Clean work areas, machines, and equipment
  • Ensure work area remains stocked with materials needed
  • Assist other craft workers as needed
Qualifications

Physical
  • Must be able to push/pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lbs., but may occasionally push/pull, lift, or carry up to 100 lbs.
  • Subject to repetitive use of hands/arms, and legs
  • Hand/eye coordination
  • Must be able to communicate (hear, comprehend, and speak) to safely perform work
  • Will need to be able to perform sedentary to heavy work
  • May operate hand and power tools (electric, gas, and pneumatic) of all types with proper training and authorization
  • Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
  • Position may require prolonged bending/twisting, walking, crawling, kneeling, reaching overhead, squatting, pushing /pulling, or standing and lifting
  • Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces, muddy conditions, loose rock, loose/soft sand, etc.
  • May be required to work in confined spaces
  • Will be exposed to adverse weather conditions (Heat, Cold, Rain, Etc.)
Mental
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management/ supervision
  • Work at various tempos, and concentrate amid distractions
  • Decision making skills necessary
  • Detail-oriented; must be able to remember, examine, and observe details
