We are seeking a skilled Commercial Finish and Rough Carpenter who can expertly handle casing, trim work, and window jamb extensions. The ideal candidate will be adept at installing door lock sets and will have the opportunity to work on various projects throughout the Ames area, including significant projects at ISU this summer. A strong emphasis on reliability is a cornerstone of our values. Expect to work long days and some Saturdays during the summer, with the shop based in Ames but projects extending to Huxley, Ankeny, and beyond.
Responsibilities
+ Perform rough and finish carpentry as directed by the superintendent.
+ Complete general carpentry tasks including casing, trim work, and window jamb extensions.
+ Install door lock sets efficiently and accurately.
+ Engage in both metal stud and wood framing projects.
+ Ensure high-quality workmanship in both commercial and residential settings.
Essential Skills
+ 2+ years of experience in skilled carpentry.
+ Proficiency in commercial construction, trim work, casing, and finish carpentry.
+ Ability to install windows and door locks.
+ Competence in both metal stud and wood framing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 1-2 years of commercial carpentry experience.
+ Capability to perform tasks as required by the superintendent.
+ Experience in trim carpentry and woodworking is advantageous.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $26.00/hr.

Under the guidance of your crew foreman you will:
- Learn, keep current with and apply the Morton Buildings' safety and construction procedures, methods, and standards
- Read, understand and build according to construction plans

QUALIFICATIONS

- Available to work 9-10 hours during peak construction season.

- Agree to comply with all our safety processes and procedures
- Willingness to maintain and operate construction tools in a safe and proper manner
- Ability to operate specialized safety equipment efficiently and effectively
- Standard weight lifting requirements - 50 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 100 pounds
- Capable of working in a physically demanding environment and at various heights (up to 40 feet)
- Possess good communication skills - both written and verbal
- This position requires 15% travel (based on 52 weeks), which includes overnight travel possibly up to two weeks at a time.
