**POSITION SUMMARY:**
Join our team as the Procurement Category Lead where you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing innovative category strategies that align with our business objectives. You will leverage the 7-step strategic sourcing process to drive value and enhance our procurement capabilities across various technical categories.

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Develop comprehensive Category Strategies for each assigned category, in context of business objectives and utilizing the 7 steps to strategic sourcing process to understand and integrate category and local market expertise, to set the direction of sourcing for the categories. Annually present strategies to Procurement and cross functional teams
+ Build and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers, fostering collaboration and innovation
+ Identify opportunities for cost reduction and cost avoidance projects and present analysis & category expertise driven insights to Business Partnering, Engineering and Research and Development (R&D) teams, drive execution of projects
+ Ensure Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) are in place for indirect spending within the assigned categories.
+ Identify and present innovation opportunities from suppliers to Procurement Business Partners, Engineering and Nestrade to drive innovation and implementation
+ Conduct and assist with Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and negotiations with suppliers to achieve the most favorable price, incoterm and payment terms to reduce Nestle Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), make contracting decisions accordingly
+ Collaborate with Nestrade (global purchasing), stakeholders and supply chain to minimize or eliminate disruptions.
+ Stay updated on market trends, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements related to the assigned categories to reduce and communicate risk and understand price changes
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Nestrade, Finance, Legal, Engineering and Quality Assurance, to ensure compliance and alignment with company policies and standards
+ Collaborate and lead with suppliers to identify carbon reduction opportunities and work with the Procurement Sustainability team to capture projects that contribute to Nestle's Greenhouse Gas reductions (GHG) reduction goals
+ Serve as the point of contact for market escalations and gather relevant information to provide to Global Procurement and Legal, and support in resolving disputes.
+ Effective communication skills to present to Senior Leadership
**REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL**
**EDUCATION:**
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Economics, Organizational Development or a related field
**EXPERIENCE:**
+ Minimum 7 years of experience in the Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, or Supply Chain fields preferred
+ Experience in SAP, Power BI and other advanced data analytics tools preferred
+ Experience in Microsoft; Excel, Word, & PowerPoint required
**SKILLS:**
+ Proven ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans to optimize a category required
+ Understanding of procurement processes, category management, and supplier relationship management
+ Proven experience in negotiation and cross functional influencing skills
+ Ability to navigate complex problems independently and make decisions to change processes to drive improvements with cross functional teams and improve end to end execution
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers
+ Proficiency in using SAP, Microsoft; Excel, Prism, PowerPoint, Word, and Power BI
+ Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions

Position Details

The Global Category Lead - Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) & Raw Materials is responsible for managing the procurement strategy and execution for APIs and Industrial Chemicals with experience in Life Science/Healthcare industry. Develop and execute global sourcing strategies for APIs, raw materials, and other direct inputs used in pharmaceutical and healthcare product manufacturing.

This role focuses on sourcing APIs and other key components required for manufacturing. This role is pivotal in shaping and executing global sourcing strategies that ensure cost efficiency, supply continuity, regulatory compliance, and innovation. The ideal candidate brings extensive global expertise in the Life Sciences or Healthcare industry, with a strong track record in supplier management, contract negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration. The role will also collaborate with R&D, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

* Identify, evaluate, and manage strategic suppliers, fostering long-term partnerships that drive innovation, quality, and cost optimization.
* Lead contract negotiations to secure favorable terms on pricing, quality, delivery, and risk mitigation, ensuring compliance with GMP, FDA, and other regulatory standards.

Education & Experience

* Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Chemistry, Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field (Master's or MBA preferred).
* 7-10 years of strategic sourcing or category management experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, with a strong focus on APIs, industrial chemicals and direct materials.
* In-depth knowledge of API manufacturing, regulatory requirements (FDA, GMP, ISO), and global supply markets.
* Proven success in contract negotiation, supplier relationship management, and cost reduction initiatives in regulated environments.
* Proficiency in ERP/procurement systems (JD Edwards, Oracle, or similar).
* Professional certifications such as CPSM, CIPS, or PMP are a plus.
