Base Salary Range (Additional Stipend is available for Administrative Responsibilities): $850K+
Reporting Structure: Direct Report to Catholic Health (CH) Chief Clinical Officer for clinical direction and the CH Chief Operating Officer for operational, financial, business, and programmatic planning.
Clinical and Administrative Split: (.7T Clinical and .4 Administrative)
- The Chair is responsible for the leadership and coordination of the Service Line across the six hospitals and all ambulatory service sites.
- The Chair will interface with other System leaders to integrate emergency care and oncall coverage and facilitate resources as appropriate for full cross continuum care.
- The Chair will work in partnership with the Vice President, Orthopedic, and Musculoskeletal Service Line. In this dyad relationship, both the Chair and the Vice President will lead planning and implementation of strategic initiatives within the service line, enhance practice protocols, advise on value based care strategies, as well as equipment acquisitions.
- Develop and oversee performance measures that build on and improve the CH system.
- The Chair will also be responsible for interfacing with referring physicians to promote the Musculoskeletal Service Line.
- The Chair and the Vice President, working in collaboration with regional and local executive and hospital leadership will set strategic vision to ensure execution for the Service Line.
- The Chair will have accountability for the Service Line’s clinical care delivery, recruitment, research growth, educational programs and community service. He/She will also be responsible for the transformation of the Service Line into the Musculoskeletal Institute at CH.
In partnership with the Vice President, The Chair will:
- Establish staff and physician recruitment strategy based on budget and volume needs, including succession planning.
- Develop evidence-based protocols and build COEs System wide. Work with Hospital Chairs/Chiefs/Presidents to implement protocols and develop/maintain COEs.
- Ensure quality, patient experience and performance improvement efforts

Position Description:
Under the general supervision of the Tour Supervisor and with latitude for independent judgment and initiative, the Tour Coordinator (TC) assists in the oversight and management within Central Operations and clinics. The Physician will be part of a core interdisciplinary team working in a unique environment delivering the care to patients with significant chronic illnesses. The Physician will provide general primary care including conducting histories and physicals, diagnosing and treating acute and chronic illnesses, and evaluating the need for consult services. Correctional Health Services
The New York City jail system is the second largest in the nation. A significant number of individuals in the NYC jail system will receive care on the mental health service. The service strives to provide safe, holistic and evidence-based therapeutic interventions for the diverse range of mental health issues that face the population, from serious mental illness to the natural struggles that accompany incarceration. The service provides some of the most comprehensive and unique treatment modalities in the country, including specialty housing units for individuals with serious mental illness, a 24-hour on-call psychiatric service, robust creative arts programming, clinics in each of the facilities, substance use treatment, medication assisted treatment (MAT), integrated re-entry services that includes alternatives to incarceration, and relationships with multiple training institutions throughout the city. Furthermore, CHS has been engaged in an effort to better identify people with neurodevelopmental/neurocognitive disorders and to utilize psychological testing to connect people to services in the community (e.g., with OPWDD).
Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of a Senior/Supervising Psychiatrist in the Mental Health Service of CHS, this position requires the provision of high quality, team-based psychiatric services including psychopharmacologic interventions, for individuals incarcerated in the New York City jail system. Each of the facilities in the jail system has unique patient population and environmental characteristics; each psychiatrist will be matched with the population that most closely meets their clinical expertise, desired work location and schedule and the clinical needs of the service. Experience working in correctional settings is not required, however the ability to work closely and effectively with multiple other disciplines, including security staff, is critical.

The New York City jail system is the second largest in the nation. A significant number of individuals in the NYC jail system will receive care on the mental health service. The service strives to provide safe, holistic and evidence-based therapeutic interventions for the diverse range of mental health issues that face the population, from serious mental illness to the natural struggles that accompany incarceration. The service provides some of the most comprehensive and unique treatment modalities in the country, including specialty housing units for individuals with serious mental illness, a 24-hour on-call psychiatric service, robust creative arts programming, clinics in each of the facilities, substance use treatment, medication assisted treatment (MAT), integrated re-entry services that includes alternatives to incarceration, and relationships with multiple training institutions throughout the city. Position Overview
Under supervision of the Site Medical Director, the Physician will provide comprehensive, compassionate, and thoughtful care to patients with complex chronic disease in the New York City jail system. The Physician will be part of a core interdisciplinary team working in a unique environment delivering the care to patients with significant chronic illnesses. The Physician will provide general primary care including conducting histories and physicals, diagnosing and treating acute and chronic illnesses, and evaluating the need for consult services. The interdisciplinary team will work under supervision of a Site Medical Director.
Responsibilities include:
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses. Evaluate the need for consult services and submit the prioritized consult when indicated.
- Complete comprehensive histories and physicals on all new admissions including documentation of problem list, diagnosis, orders (e.g. labs, imaging and referrals) and ordering appropriate medications where applicable.
- Evaluate patients requesting sick call, schedule follow-ups and update medication orders. Update problem lists and reconcile patient orders at all visits.
- Implement plans for patientcare utilizing protocols approved by the medical leadership and/or treatment plans reflecting the current standard of care.
- Request radiology exams, lab tests, EKGs when clinically indicated and interpret these results based on clinical findings and in consultation with supervisors where appropriate.
- Collaborate closely with CHS Physician Assistants, including providing clinical guidance, cosigning notes, and providing other supervision based on clinical circumstance and PA requirements.
- Review all specialty consults and hospital returns to ensure that the standard of care is met and recommendations of the consultant are implemented.
- Perform chart reviews and summaries for patients transferring facilities including updating problem lists, rewriting medication orders, and reconciling orders and consults as needed.
- Generate special needs referrals and documentation as needed (for patients with (disabilities, dietary restrictions, heat sensitivity, or other relevant flags).
- Teach patients about their medical conditions and treatments; counsel on risks and benefits of different treatment decisions; witness, sign, and document patient refusals of care.

Position Description:
Under the general supervision of the Tour Supervisor and with latitude for independent judgment and initiative, the Tour Coordinator (TC) assists in the oversight and management within Central Operations and clinics.
