It is a hands-on role with a focus on ensuring that all aspects of the physical and virtual IT infrastructure are operating in a highly efficient and effective manner in order to provide timely and secure access to critical systems and data. The Infrastructure Technician reports to the IT Director. Active CCNA Required Major Duties And Responsibilities Install, maintain, upgrade, and continuously improve the organization’s operating environment. Operation and maintenance of the onsite data center as hosted solutions and virtual co-location facilities. Assist with setup and staging of relevant equipment as needed. Systems Administration to ensure basic information technology security principles are adhered to across the organization. Oversight of patching workstations, servers, and other infrastructure components. Planning and Organizing Maintain the ongoing reliability, performance and support of the infrastructure. This includes monitoring operating environments, responding to incidents, and planning for growth, and ensure best practices are in effect. Teamwork Serve as an escalation path on the Service Desk as needed for higher tier issues as they become identified. Identify and participate in projects to improve the environment on an ongoing basis. Off hour on call support as required. Skills And Abilities Must possess a strong working knowledge of LAN and WAN network solutions/devices, Next-gen firewalls/IPS, Active Directory components, VMware virtualization solutions, enterprise SAN/NAS technology. Network Administrator

Summary:

Under limited supervision, performs network administration & planning for all aspects of IT-network infrastructure - to include network equipment, servers, and software applications. Brings in reliable, durable, and cost-effective solutions for all IT related needs.

Relationships:

Works under the direction of the Network Operations Manager/Network Architect; this position requires excellent technical, customer service, and organizational skills to support network operations for customer connections, administrative personnel, and staff. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform a wide range of network administration duties including installations, debugging, maintenance, upgrades, and general support for Cisco, Juniper, HP, Nortel, and Extreme network equipment.
• Evaluate, test, and deploy all software and hardware upgrades to the networking infrastructure.
• Assist in the configuration and deployment of core and peripheral network devices, which will require continuous learning of new devices (i.e. Nexus switches, ASR routers, and long-haul optical equipment).
• Proactive monitoring of all network devices, services, and servers using a combination of tools to ensure high availability and SLA's.
• Collect and review network utilization data for capacity and planning purposes
• Assist in developing, implementing, testing, and maintaining disaster recovery plans.
• Interface with vendors for procurement & maintenance of all IT infrastructures.
• Manage & troubleshoot network and Internet connectivity throughout the organization.
• Work closely with the fellow tech team members to provide end-user support and issue resolution.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging tools and technologies.

• Significant experience working with Linux and Windows servers and network monitoring tools.
