**What role you will play in our team**
Our Chemical Process Engineers play a pivotal role in the successful operation of our plants and are responsible for initiating and leading improvements to unit performance in safety, production, and reliability in a dynamic team environment. You will think strategically, execute thoughtfully, and collaborate across many teams, levels, and situations. In this role, you will serve as a process technical resource, providing technical and operational expertise to address complex processes across business teams.
Process Engineers serve primarily to set longer term visons for unit performance and troubleshooting in addition to supporting day-to-day activities.
**What you will do**
Serve as a technical leader by:
+ Mentor less experienced engineers on design practices, unit health monitoring, and troubleshooting
+ Provide support of abnormal and non-routine operations, including unit Turnarounds
+ Aid in the development of long term vision and strategy for product line improvements
+ Organize and design plant testing and product trials
+ Influence others and drive toward solutions without direct authority
+ Work in a team environment with other engineering disciplines, operations, and mechanical personnel and interface with corporate technology support
+ Ability to interface with 3rd party vendors (cost optimizations as well as developing/driving solutions)
+ Lead/support incident investigations as technical lead
+ Provide support for developing and implementing various capital projects to drive margin or mitigate SHE risk
+ Provide assistance in the field during plant startups, shutdowns or upsets

**About you**

+ B.S. Chemical Engineering
+ 3-10 years of experience in refining and/or chemicals manufacturing roles
**Preferred Qualifications/ Experience**
+ Process design exposure
+ Familiarity with advanced control strategies/optimization software
+ Risk assessment and HAZOP experience
+ Understanding of safety relief limits (modelling and evaluations)

Job Description
The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundation in chemical engineering principles, with hands-on experience in process simulation, scale-up, and troubleshooting. You should be adept at analyzing process data, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing solutions to improve yield, reduce waste, and enhance product quality. A proactive approach to problem-solving, combined with excellent analytical and communication skills, is essential. Familiarity with process safety management and regulatory compliance is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize chemical manufacturing processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to process performance, equipment, and product quality.
- Conduct process simulations and modeling to evaluate potential improvements and new designs.
- Monitor process parameters and analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for optimization.
- Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impact.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality control procedures.
- Collaborate with R&D, operations, and maintenance teams to support new product introductions and process upgrades.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and process flow diagrams.
- Participate in HAZOP studies and other process safety assessments.
- Train operators and technicians on process operations and safety procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in chemical process engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in process design, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mass transfer principles.
- Knowledge of process control systems and instrumentation.
- Familiarity with process safety management (PSM) and environmental regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
