We have an exciting opportunity at our Mesa, Arizona facility for a **Senior Research Chemist** in our CMP group! The Sr. Research Chemist will support new Chemical Mechanical Polishing/Planarization (CMP) slurry formulation development and provide chemistry/chemical component expert consultation to the technology development team. The primary focus will be formulation development for BEOL/MOL slurries for next generation semiconductor technologies.

**Key responsibilities for this role include:**
+ Develop new CMP slurry formulations as per customer's/semiconductor technology node needs.
+ Investigate chemistry and abrasive interactions with different dielectric and metal films.
+ Fine-tune slurry chemistry to get desired polishing rates & metrology performance for BE/MOL slurries
+ Design experiments to prove hypothesis and execute test plans for data collection.
+ Analyze/interpret data and ability to prepare and present technical data package to both internal and external customers.
+ Apply knowledge of acids/bases, corrosion inhibitors, chemical/particle interactions, electrochemistry, organic/inorganic chemistry, surfactants, and interfacial chemistry to CMP slurry development
+ Conduct literature/ IP search, document results, present data to technology team & file patents.
+ Coordinate with engineering and the lab staff on formulation needs with respect to CMP slurries.
+ Provide technical expertise related to CMP slurries' chemistries to Product Development, Process Development, Manufacturing and QA/QC teams.
**REQUIREMENTS**
+ Minimum Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or Colloidal Science. M.S. with job experience in related field will also be considered.
+ Minimum 1-2 years of industry experience beneficial: preferably in Chemical Mechanical Polishing/Planarization (CMP) slurry chemistries
+ Analytical abilities, experimental skills and expertise in chemistry required. Previous proven success in formulation development is beneficial.
+ Familiarity with silica abrasives, surfactants, corrosion, surface chemistry, and electrochemistry are desired.
+ Experience with the semiconductor industry (FEOL/MOL/BEOL), polishing and metrology tools, CMP slurries, and abrasive particles used in CMP slurries is a plus.
+ Highly self-motivated, creative individual with a passion for research and development leading to high-impact practical applications products for the semiconductor industry.
+ Fast learning capability for the new challenges
+ Excellent communication, data collection, time management and organizational skills required.
+ Proficiency in office software such as MS Excel, Word, PPT and Outlook required. DOE experience and JMP proficiency preferred.

In this role, you will be responsible to work with Research Scientists to evaluate existing and new chemistries, processes, or applications related to Indorama products. This position is focused on the laboratory working on directed experiments in a safe manner. The lab work may include glassware reactors, Parr reactor reactions, etc. Also, the work could include application specific testing for areas such as agricultural, oilfield, paints/coatings, personal care, etc.
**What will be expected from you?**
+ Maintain an awareness of the literature and other sources of information to remain current with developments in the area of functional products of interest to the Corporation.
+ Work to complete projects in the US project pipeline.
+ Set up and execute laboratory to meet both internal and external customer expectations.
+ Set up and execute laboratory work to as outlined by R&D scientist.
+ Analyzing samples by analytical methods or applications testing.
+ Keep neat and orderly notebooks containing a record of all work performed. Maintain other records as necessary to support patent applications for innovative products.

**What are we looking for in the ideal candidate?**

+ Associates Degree with 5+ years in Research laboratory work
+ 0-3 years' experience (more 3 years' experience preferred) in:
+ R&D laboratory preferred.
+ Surfactants knowledge in laboratory or application use strongly preferred.
+ Use and knowledge of Parr Reactors preferred.
+ Computer literacy w/ databases, word processing, spreadsheets

+ Build up our comprehensive library of functional chemicals for CMP slurry and cleaner development including particles, corrosion inhibitors, removal rate enhancer, oxidants, and cleaner chemicals.
