MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
Strategic Planning: Development and implementation of a strategy and plan to accelerate innovation capability across the enterprise. Refine and advance commercially viable innovations and accelerate them through a commercialization process. Enable and support Innovation Program leadership to ensure that the program serves as an effective bridge to potential industry partners, facilitating both inside-out and outside-in innovation. Work and coordinate with executive leadership from various aspects of the Cottage Health system to ensure that innovation activities are aligned with the mission of the hospital while also advocating for support and cooperation on strategic innovation-related opportunities for Cottage Health. Lead development of an IP disclosure process to collect innovative ideas from internal sources as they are developed. Maintain Cottage Health's patent portfolio and IP database in collaboration with Cottage Research Institute. Provide direct management, guidance and supervision to the Innovation Program, including budget development, individual and service line performance measurement, policy formulation and regulatory compliance.
Problem Solving: Implement and operate a programmatic infrastructure for selecting, funding, and developing high-potential technologies with the purpose of increasing their commercial potential to be out-licensed or be the basis for a new venture. Continuously improve systems, processes, and tools to systemize and structure innovation across the enterprise.
Education & Training : Coordinate enterprise-wide training to support innovation processes and tools and to accelerate capability among innovation practitioners. Build a culture to leverage an innovation toolkit across the enterprise to accelerate ability, rapidly capture opportunities, and resolve problems. Identify and execute various informational programs that support the development of a knowledge base around creative thought opportunities for education, collaboration and development of ideas.
Financial/Budget : Responsible for budget development and execution, financial forecasting and demonstrating excellent project management skills, with successful delivery of projects on time, in line with budget expectations and strategy. Support monitoring of performance for dollars Cottage invests in Private Equity, Economic Development or other uses of funds to support innovation and commercialization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Minimum: Advanced degree (Master's level is business, law, or a related field) is required or significantly demonstrated successful experience required.
Years of Related Work Experience:
- Minimum : Work requires a minimum of 10 years' related experience to include experience in some or all of the following: business management, innovation, strategic venture and program development, patent preparation/review and licensing agreements. Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
Technical Requirements:
- Minimum: Experience leading or working in/with technology corporations. A strong understanding of intellectual property management and commercial translation of early-stage asset portfolios. Experience developing and negotiating strategic partnership initiatives at the organizational level. The Chief Innovation Officer - Client Services Operations (CIO - CSO) is responsible for operational and thought leadership, strategic direction, and overall tactical implementation of LNWs centralized client service and investment operations functions. Key objectives of this position are to leverage current and future technologies, manage an appropriately resourced service team, and deliver highly scalable, accurate and professional centralized client service and investment operations. Other top considerations include enhancing advisors client servicing capabilities, appropriately managing business risk and meeting compliance related obligations. Key internal constituents include leaders of client services, trust services, and investments with whom the CIO - CSO will collaborate in the design and implementation of the service offering and related workflows.
LNW has invested in an industry leading technology stack and is in the process of segmenting client service offerings to better align deliverables and client needs and expectations. Early focus for this position will be on partnering with Client Service, Trust and Investment leaders in implementing these segmented client offerings, driving full utilization of current technologies, and collaborating on optimal design of operational workflows. Longer term, the role will be focused on a continual drive towards operational innovation, leveraging technology to provide scale and efficiency, and supporting client service teams in their role of serving clients in a highly personal and bespoke manner.
The CIO - CSO will also be responsible for leading and managing the assigned service team and creating a culture that is fully supportive of LNWs values and behaviors.

- Hands on experience leading workflow design and development within a client focused framework. Proven track record of successful implementation and adaptation for firm-specific needs. Preference for direct experience with Salesforce, Addepar, and Canoe software.
- Solid and broad knowledge and understanding of wealth management, investment management and/or trust businesses.
- Deep knowledge of the operational aspects of a wealth and/or investment management business, including such items as account opening and closing, moving money, portfolio accounting and updates, custodial interactions and relationship management, security valuation, client reporting, (internal and external) client interaction and support, operational systems maintenance, etc.
- Knowledge of operational aspects of the broad investment landscape including traditional and alternative investments in both public and private form.
- Strong strategic vision and creativity demonstrating excellent business acumen, professional judgment and understanding of client and systems issues.
- Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into plans and tactics and successfully implement those plans.

Departmental Overview The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (VCRO) has overall managerial responsibility for Berkeley's research enterprise. It seeks to maintain a research environment that fosters creativity, collaboration and community. Its specific goals are to provide effective support for campus-wide research efforts; to advocate for research needs and resources; and to maximize the benefits of Berkeley's research to the scholarly community, and to the quality of life in the local community, the state, and the nation. In support of these goals, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research: supervises over 30 research units, six museums, and seven field stations; administers the flow of research funding to the Berkeley campus; oversees the compliance of campus research with federal, state and university regulations; facilitates relations between University researchers and private industry for the benefit of society. Under the VCRO, the Office of the Chief Innovation and Entrepreneurship Officer maintains a research environment that fosters creativity, collaboration and community. Its specific goals are to provide effective support for campus-wide research efforts; to advocate for research needs and resources; and to maximize the benefits of Berkeley's research to the scholarly community, and to the quality of life in the local community, the state, and the nation. The Chief Innovation and Entrepreneurship Officer (CIEO), established in 2020, is a high profile position that reports directly to the Vice Chancellor for Research. The CIEO will oversee, through subordinate senior managers, and have line management responsibility for the Office of Intellectual Property and Industry Alliances (IPIRA) which is comprised of the Office of Technology Licensing (OTL) and Industry Alliances Office (IAO), Berkeley SkyDeck Accelerator, and the Innovative Genomics Institute IP Office. Qualifications:
- Proven experience in the mental health, addiction recovery, or behavioral health field.
- Excellent communication skills and a proven track record in building and
- Maintaining professional relationships with referral sources.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software.
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel within the state
- Commitment to supporting clients and families in their recovery journey.
