About the Role

The person in this role will provide scientific and clinical leadership in the development of all types of scientific materials, including peer-reviewed scientific communications, slide decks, and key educator materials.

What You'll Do

  • Develop high-quality scientific and well-referenced educational materials, including promotional educational content, as well as abstracts, posters, slide decks, brief communications, and other standard communication formats
  • Lead a medical team while being flexible in a dynamic service-oriented environment
  • Interact with client and experts in all aspects of the business with a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of client and experts
  • Self-manage to adhere to agreed T&E schedules, budgets, and to alert team to potential deviations and overages
  • Build working relationships with key client medical personnel
  • Adhere to all processes and procedures for development and production of programs

What You'll Need

  • Launch experience is preferred
  • 6+ years advertising/healthcare communications agency experience is require
  • Track record of working on promotional business deeply engaged with the science
  • Excellent strategic insights; ability to partner closely with and/or fill in for Strategic Planning
  • Good and vocal presence for client liaison and presentations
  • Comfort working with account and creative in their discipline, ie, not advising from the outside but getting directly involved
  • Line management history supervising junior staff is desirable
  • Client side experience is of interest, but not necessary
  • Familiarity with PowerPoint, Excel, and RefMan
  • Excellent verbal, writing, presentation, and editing skills
  • Excellent interviewing skills (for expert interviews, author research, advisory boards)
  • Working knowledge of clinical or preclinical research principles, regulatory affairs, and biostatistics
  • Knowledge of clinical trial study design, health outcomes research, pharmacoeconomics and epidemiology
  • Ability to develop table, figures, etc, and review for grammar, format, and consistency
  • Ability to translate complex data into compelling messages and concepts

What does a Director, Medical do?

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Director, Medical Strategy for our medical team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical science, excellent communication skills, and a passion for translating complex medical information into impactful advertising. As the Director, Medical Strategy, you will be responsible for overseeing all medical content, ensuring scientific accuracy, and collaborating with creative and account teams to develop effective campaigns. 

Essential duties and responsibilities:
Our employees are tasked with delivering excellent business results through the efforts of their teams.  These results are achieved by

  • Consulting with Creative, Account and Planning teams to develop compelling medical content across all digital and print media  
  • Identifying new medical advances and opportunities, and implementing disease state knowledge to drive promotional efforts  
  • Analyzing clinical data, conducting literature searches, participating in medical conferences and performing competitive analyses  
  • Engaging and informing colleagues, healthcare professionals and clients, including medical, legal and regulatory groups  
  • Collaborating in the development of EVERSANA INTOUCH POVs and recommendations with clients  
  • Ensuring medical communications and promotional pieces meet and surpass marketing team objectives 
  • Guide the creation of clinically cogent and engaging promotional and KOL materials while ensuring effective use of clinical data to reach strategic brand objectives  
  • Improve medical literacy across contributing agency teams; provide medical understanding on disease states, clinical trials, treatments and competition  
  • Guide submissions for client medical/regulatory approval processes and help to incorporate client and regulatory feedback

Qualifications

What are we looking for?

  • M.D., Ph.D. or Pharm.D. required with 5+ years of experience in an agency or pharmaceutical industry supporting scientific communications, medical affairs or medical education  
  • A passion for science, medicine and innovation, with a proven track record of communicating medical advances to different audiences   
  • Ability to lead and execute development of content, including data analysis for a wide range of complex projects with minimal review/direction  
  • Ability to independently and accurately incorporate strategic concepts into projects, as well as the capability to guide others to do so  
  • Understanding of clinical practice, with the ability to perform scientific literature searches; can interpret complex clinical data into compelling stories (copy)  
  • Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills; insightful data analysis and accomplished presentation abilities, as well as the drive to build client and team relationships  
  • Insightful with a problem-solving, solution-oriented mindset; comfortable with leading client interactions and defending work and opinions  
  • Familiarity with FDA marketing regulations, AMA style and digital best practices  
  • Willingness to travel is a requirement

+ In partnership with Indication-Specific Medical Strategy, Operations, Sales, and other functions, responsible for award of strategic and tactical new business to achieve annual Gross New Business targets. Responsible for the inclusion of weight loss trial elements into proposals.
+ Provide scientific, clinical, and operational advice to internal stakeholders developing proposals: this may include, but is not limited to, providing the strategy to protocol design/clinical development plan, mining data to address important clinical questions relevant to the study, reviewing the protocol for scientific/regulatory soundness and feasibility, identification of target site and principal investigator profiles, anticipated patient recruitment, standard of care and competitive landscape.
+ Support preparation of customer and bid defense meetings, e.g. training and preparation of the assigned project team; provide specific content; ensure presentation focus and content effectively conveys Cardiovascular strategy. Attends and presents at customer meeting, or bid defense or partnership meetings, as required.
+ Participates in strategic business development activities including presentations to prospective clients and professional meetings.
+ Maintains awareness of industry pipeline and scientific and business landscape; supports due diligence research of the Metabolic landscape.
**REQUIREMENTS:**
_Scientific and Research Qualifications and Experience_
+ **Endocrinologist or Cardiologist.** A degree from an accredited and internationally recognized school is required
+ 2+ years clinical research relevant experience, including hands on operational delivery and/or drug development experience
+ Robust and current knowledge of scientific, clinical, regulatory, commercial and competitive landscape in Metabolism
+ Excellent skills in providing consultation and advice on multiple assignments are required, as well as initiative and flexibility.
+ In depth knowledge of, and skill in applying, applicable clinical research regulatory requirements; e.g. Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines
+ Demonstrated ability to understand customer needs, have difficult conversations with internal/external stakeholders and customers, negotiate solutions and understand impacts on the overall offering
+ Strong clinical research skills and commitment to evidence-based and patient-centered clinical development
