Our client, a prominent mental health and wellness center serving families in San Jose, California , is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Psychologist. This vital role focuses on providing comprehensive psychological assessment, diagnosis, and therapeutic intervention for children and adolescents experiencing a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. The Child Psychologist will conduct thorough evaluations, including psychological testing, to understand each child's unique needs and develop tailored treatment plans. Therapy modalities may include individual psychotherapy, family therapy, and group therapy, utilizing evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and play therapy. You will work closely with parents, caregivers, and other professionals, such as pediatricians and educators, to create a holistic support system for the child. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate and confidential client records, adhering to ethical guidelines and legal requirements, and participating in ongoing professional development. - Develop and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
- Provide psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and their families.
- Collaborate with parents, guardians, and other professionals (e.g., educators, pediatricians) to coordinate care.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records in compliance with ethical and legal standards.
- Stay current with research and advancements in child psychology and mental health treatment.
- Participate in case consultations and interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Administer and interpret psychological tests.
- Educate families on child development, mental health conditions, and coping strategies.
- Uphold the highest standards of professional ethics and conduct.
- Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in child/adolescent psychology.
- Completion of an APA-accredited internship.
- Licensed Psychologist in the state of California (or license-eligible).
- Minimum of 3 years of supervised clinical experience post-doctorate.
- Experience in assessment and diagnosis of child and adolescent mental health disorders.
- Proficiency in various therapeutic modalities (CBT, DBT, play therapy, family therapy).
- Excellent diagnostic, clinical, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
