**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Perform conventional and moderately complex highway/roadway engineering tasks efficiently and accurately.
+ Serve as a lead engineer for specific disciplines on small to intermediate-sized projects or contribute as part of a project team.
+ Provide technical guidance to CAD Designers/Drafters, Designers, and junior Engineers working on the same project.
+ Plan and design roadway facilities that prioritize reliability, safety, resource efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
+ Develop engineering computations, material quantity take-offs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
+ Foster cooperative and productive relationships with employees, clients, and stakeholders.
**Qualifications:**
+ **Experience:** 3-10+ years of related experience in highway/roadway engineering design.
+ **Education:** Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (required).
+ **Licensure:** Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is highly preferred.
+ **Software Skills:** Proficiency in MS Office, MicroStation, and industry-standard roadway design and analysis software.

FEMA-Disaster Recovery Specialists (Civil Engineers)

Responsibilities

Civil Engineer Responsibilities

In this role, you will deploy to disaster sites to support FEMA or other government entities in the delivery of disaster recovery programs such as the Public Assistance (PA) program or the FEMA Individual Assistance (IA) Direct Housing program. Our Civil Engineers assist FEMA, local government agencies and other program-eligible entities in the preparation of grant applications for the restoration of damaged public infrastructure such as roads, bridges, buildings and utilities, or use their expertise to plan and develop temporary housing solutions for disaster survivors. The work includes but is not limited to site assessments of disaster-damaged infrastructure, documenting detailed damage descriptions, developing restoration or new facility scopes of work, formulating detailed cost estimates, and assisting with hazard mitigation planning.

Required Skills & Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field from an accredited university
• Minimum of 5 years of full-time professional experience working with public infrastructure
• Knowledge of modern construction practices and experience conducting facility assessments, performing construction inspection, and developing project scope and cost estimates
• Working knowledge of International Building Code (IBC), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other governmental regulatory compliance
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Must be computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office applications
• Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment under stressful conditions
• The ability to work up to 12 hours per day, 7 days a week while deployed to a disaster recovery operation for up to 12 months
• Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Be a U.S. citizen capable of passing a federal background investigation to obtain a Public Trust clearance

• Working knowledge of the FEMA PA Program law, regulation and policy
