Job Overview :
The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all on-site aspects of industrial and commercial building construction projects, with a strong emphasis on site development, including utilities, grading, and all activities up to the building envelope. Key Responsibilities :
- Project Oversight : Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the construction site, with a focus on site development activities such as utilities installation, grading, and groundwork up to the building envelope, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, timelines, and budgets.
- Site Development Management : Oversee and coordinate all aspects of site development, including earthwork, stormwater management, utility installation (water, sewer, electrical, gas), and site grading, ensuring compliance with engineering plans and local regulations.
- Team Coordination : Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and labor crews involved in site development and construction, ensuring clarity on tasks, timelines, and quality standards. Act as the primary point of contact on site for all parties involved in the project.
- Quality Control : Implement and enforce high-quality standards for all site work, including utilities, grading, and building envelope preparation, conducting regular inspections and proactively addressing any quality issues.
- Safety Management : Ensure that all safety protocols and regulations are consistently followed, particularly during high-risk site development activities. Conduct regular safety meetings and address any on-site hazards or safety concerns promptly.
- Scheduling and Planning : Develop and manage construction schedules, integrating site development milestones with building construction phases to ensure timely project completion. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to adjust schedules as needed to mitigate risks or delays.
- Resource Management : Oversee the ordering and delivery of materials, equipment, and resources required for site development and construction, ensuring availability on time and within budget.
- Documentation and Reporting : Maintain accurate project records, including daily logs, progress reports, and safety documentation related to site development and construction. Provide regular updates to project managers and stakeholders on project status, progress, and potential issues.
- Problem Solving : Address and resolve any unexpected challenges on-site, such as utility conflicts, grading issues, or delays in site preparation, promptly and effectively to maintain project quality and timeline standards.
- Client and Stakeholder Liaison : Communicate progress and issues related to site development and construction with clients and stakeholders, ensuring their expectations are managed and that any required changes are implemented smoothly.
- Education : Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not always required depending on experience).
- Experience : Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a superintendent role within industrial/commercial building construction, with at least 3-5 years of direct experience managing site development activities, including utilities, grading, and preparation up to the building envelope.
- Technical Skills : Strong knowledge of site development processes (e.g., earthwork, utility installation, grading), construction methods, materials, scheduling, and project management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD).
- Certifications : OSHA certification preferred; First Aid, CPR, and erosion control certifications are a plus.
- Communication Skills : Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively between various stakeholders, including engineers, utility providers, and regulatory agencies.

Our Client, a multi-discipline consulting company, is seeking to add to its team. They are looking for a civil engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience in Municipalities, doing construction administration and plan reviews.
As Project Engineer, you will be involved in most aspects for completing projects through the municipal approval process. Together with the project manager and design team, you will provide technical expertise and support on land development projects by performing the following duties:
- Assists Project Manager in preparation of proposals and estimates
- Participates in presenting the proposal to the prospective client or clients, and governmental agencies
- Determines/Reviews major project designs with the Project Manager such as layout, utility routing, stormwater management, grading and soil erosion control design, etc., confirming conformance to municipal standards, pavement design, construction observation and other items
- Has direct client contact only after coordination with Project Manager
- Assigns and assists in the duties of the project team, answers their questions, and monitors their progress while coordinating project direction with the project manager
- Checks accuracy of completed work
- Assists Project manager in preparing contracts and specifications

Formulate design of civil systems including underground utilities, paving, grading, and drainage for medium to large scale projects of increasing complexity.

Develop site layout(s) in accordance with zoning and other applicable ordinances and requirements.

Edit or draft project specifications.

Evaluate design options for consideration by Project Manager and/or client.

Monitor project budgets and schedules. Adjust work efforts as required to meet budget and schedule goals
