Job Description
A consulting client in the engineering field is seeking to add a Structural Engineer to their growing team. Some job duties may include writing structural reports, additions to existing structures, checking roots, checking cooling units, vent hoods, etc. for existing warehouses/large buildings. Candidates will be required to interact with the CAD Designers, lead engineers, and other structural engineers daily. Candidate will direct designers to what structural details are required to be in the construction drawings; review drawings and to ensure that they meet the requirements set forth in the structural. **What You'll Be Doing**
**Job Summary:** The Engineer is generally responsible for performing all aspects for a complete designs of small and large civil/structural engineering assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. Georgia-Pacific has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to join our team at our containerboard paper mill in Toledo, OR. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the mill's engineering team to provide civil and structural support to project engineers with assessments, design, and expertise at this large fully-integrated production operations. This role is part of the engineering department at the Toledo mill and would be the primarily onsite subject matter expert on structural and civil design and condition assessments. What You Will Do

• Perform basic structural and civil assessments of existing equipment and facilities
• Provide design review feedback on projects to be installed at the mill of all sizes
• Provide basic structural and civil designs and calculations for project managers and maintenance department (i.e. fit for service calculations, floor and structural loading, lifting structures design, motor and pump bases)
• Construction manage civil and structural work performed at the mill
• Contract and supervise additional civil and structural engineering support as needed for workload
• Manage and prioritize portfolio of civil and structural repairs on mill infrastructure (roofs, buildings, roads)
• Project manage project that are primarily civil or structural scope - develop scope, schedule, and budgets through FEL project phases
• Contract and supervise additional civil and structural engineering support as needed for workload

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering
• Three (3) or more years of experience as a civil/structural design engineer in a heavy manufacturing environment

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Performs advanced engineering problem solving in support of nuclear plant operations. Responsible for technical decisions. Possesses superior knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application and has excellent knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations. Functions with recognized industry-level of expertise in a technical area.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Perform advanced engineering and technical tasks in support of nuclear plant operations.
• Perform independent research, reviews, studies and analyses in support of technical projects.
• Provides in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage and implement engineering activities related to plant safety, reliability, maintainability, and availability ensuring compliance to customer's needs, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies.
• Accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work ensuring proper configuration management and assuring that standard design criteria, practices and codes are used in preparation of plans and specifications.
• Provide technical expertise and consultation through direct involvement to identify and resolve equipment and system problems.
• Provides initial or complete task management of engineering issues.
• Recommends equipment, new concepts and techniques to improve performance, simplify construction, reduce costs, correct design or material flaws, or comply with changes in codes or regulations.
• Supports plant design modifications, testing and problem solving.
• Assure all engineering products prepared or overseen are in accordance with applicable safety analyses, industry codes, and all regulatory requirements.
• Develop, implement and coordinate functional supervisory activities including, but not limited to, personnel, budgetary accountabilities and planning goals with respect to engineering personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• B. S. degree in engineering or licensed Professional Engineer
• 10+ years of engineering experience and exceptional performance
• Approval of VP Engineering required to obtain this classification
