THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY

Responsible for measuring, layout, inspection and documentation of heavy civil construction projects. Someone who can establish line and grade for field crew construction of clearing limits, earthwork, utilities, curb & gutter, paving and as built plans utilizing the latest in Trimble GPS and drone technology. The ideal candidate will have a firm grasp on the methods, principles, and practice of surveying. This role reports directly to the Director of Preconstruction.

o Perform surveying and mapping duties to be used to establish line and grade for field crew construction of clearing limits, earthwork, utilities, curb & gutter, paving, as built plans, mining, or other purposes utilizing the latest in Trimble GPS and drone technology.

o Establish fixed points to be used by field crews for use in constructing Heavy Civil projects, using geodetic, drone and engineering instruments.

o Maintain GPS and surveying instruments to maintain accuracy and proper GPS field data versions in the respective GPS enabled construction equipment.

o Establish horizontal and vertical controls that are required for site limits and heavy civil construction.

o Verify the accuracy of construction data, including measurements and calculations conducted at construction sites.

o Coordinate findings with the work of the Preconstruction Manager, Project Managers, engineering and architectural personnel, clients, and others concerned with projects.

o Perform survey activities in a safe and effective manner.

o Participate in a variety of special survey projects as assigned.

o Ability to construct GPS models a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • High School Diploma or GED
    • BS degree in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Geospatial Sciences, or a related field preferred.
    • Surveying and Drone license a plus.
• 2 or more years' experience - salary based on experience level / ideal level of experience 7 or more years.
  • Proven experience as a Construction Surveyor or similar role.
  • Working knowledge of Trimble GPS systems, Topcon and other surveying equipment.

**Land Surveyor**
Our Advanced Geomatics (ADG) team is seeking a Land Services (Intermediate) to provide enterprise-wide support in the areas of land surveying, cadastral mapping, survey control, easement preparation and review, topographic mapping, engineering surveys, and land survey plat and subdivision review. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with the ADG Supervisor and other field survey staff to plan and organize field surveys.
A day in the life of a Land Services (Intermediate) may include:
+ Perform land surveying work from field to finish using all forms of surveying equipment, total station, GNSS, Lidar scanners, and drones
+ Conduct research on easements and property boundaries, prepares legal descriptions and exhibits
+ Create topographic maps and drawings in support of Colorado Springs Utilities' engineering groups
+ Perform drone inspections of Colorado Springs Utilities' infrastructure
+ Maintain equipment and assists as directed
+ Process Lidar and photogrammetry data
+ Assist with dam deformation surveys
+ Review proposed plat and easement from outside sources
+ Enter and edit Landbase data in GIS

Insight Global is seeking a civil engineering Land Surveyor for a well-established engineering consultant firm located in San Diego, California. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise and be familiar with regulatory requirements and comfortable delivering high quality work in a remote environment.
This role is fully remote and candidates can sit anywhere BUT the preference is in or near San Diego.
Daily responsibilities include:
- Perform topographic, boundary, and construction surveys for civil engineering projects.
- Prepare and interpret survey drawings, legal descriptions, and plats.
- Collaborate with civil engineers to provide accurate data for site design and layout.
- Analyze survey data and produce reports, maps, and documentation using AutoCAD and GIS software.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Maintain accurate records of survey data and project documentation.

3+ years of experience in land surveying, preferably in civil engineering projects
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D
Experience preparing and interpreting survey drawings, legal descriptions, and plats
Strong written and verbal communication skills Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license null
