Position Summary:

The Classroom Teacher is responsible for providing quality services to diverse clients and their families, through appropriate clinical competencies and practices, effective communication and transdisciplinary teaming.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plans, implements special education strategies/instruction and maintains daily lesson plans and activities which reflect the goals of the common core, student IEPs and NYS learning standards.
  • Reviews and signs attestation of each child’s IEP; ensures implementation of services regarding location, duration and frequency as listed on IEP.
  • Develops and implements designated curriculum that fosters both special needs and typical children’s acquisition mastery of age-appropriate level skills as per NYS and UPK regulations, by using children’s strengths, preferences and interests.
  • Assesses children, both formally and informally, leading up to Quarterly and Annual Review Reports for each child in the classroom.
  • Provides a developmentally appropriate, child focused, and safe active learning environment. Imbeds instruction across routines and activities.
  • Responsible for children’s health and safety at all times, and is aware of and implements behavioral, health and safety, and emergency procedures as they relate to the classroom.
  • Develops and implements classroom management strategies and individual behavioral supports for specific children as per agency philosophies.
  • Uses functional assessments as well as positive, preventative and interactive strategies.
  • Supervises and provides direction for the Assistant Teacher and Classroom Aides by modeling positive relationships and strategies. Provides orientation and ongoing training on specific classroom needs.
  • Provides periodic, timely and formalized communication to parents in the form of written reports, phone calls, email and conferences.
  • Maintains progress records including anecdotal notes, data collection, and checklists on the development of all children. Reports concerns to the School Administrator and Supervisor.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client information.
  • Attends and participates in conferences and workshops related to early childhood development, education and related areas, as well as all regularly scheduled faculty and staff meetings.
  • Provides explicit feedback to children to enhance participation and engagement in learning activities.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive interpersonal relationship with all children, parents/legal guardians, and work related contacts. Directs pertinent information as appropriate.
  • Serves as a mandated reporter and reports any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to the School Administrator for follow up.
  • Checks and responds to email regularly.
  • Takes responsibility for quality of own work.
  • Makes responsible decisions about use of social media. See POST media policy on Sharepoint.
  • Maintains professional boundaries within the work setting.
  • Assists with the care and maintenance of equipment onsite, including daily cleaning of toys/materials used during therapy.
  • Receives and implements constructive feedback from leadership staff.
  • Effectively accesses and utilizes Liberty POST website and Sharepoint to gain
  • needed information, enter electronic treatment notes, access forms, parent education information, continuing education information, and employee handbook.
  • Follows mandatory guidelines according to the, Regional Policies and Procedures and Employee Handbook.
  • Adheres to universal precautions and safety precautions.
  • Promotes diversity and demonstrates respect and appreciation for co-workers and children and their families.
  • Performs related duties as may be required.
  • Uses reflection and sets professional goals.
  • Represents Liberty POST in a professional manner.

Position Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master's degree (M. A.) in Special education.

Experience:

  • Prior teaching experience is preferred.
  • Experience in preschool, child care, early childhood education elementary school and special education.

The CSU Early Childhood Center ( ECC ) is a laboratory school with a three-fold mission to a) offer a developmentally appropriate, Reggio Emilia-inspired learning environment for young children; b) prepare university students for careers in the field of early childhood; and c) provide opportunities for research related to children, families, and early childhood education. Each year, the ECC serves approximately 150 children (ages 6 weeks to 6 years), while simultaneously training students from various departments across the CSU campus including Food Science and Human Nutrition; Human Development and Family Studies; Occupational Therapy; the School of Education; and the School of Theatre, Music and Dance.
Housed within CSU's Department of Human Development and Family Studies, the ECC has been serving children and families in the Fort Collins community since 1929 and is dedicated to working in partnership with families to ensure a quality educational experience for children. We are a Reggio Emilia-inspired program, providing an emergent approach to educating children that is play-based and child-directed.
Position Summary
The Department of Human Development and Family Studies seeks applications throughout the year from individuals who are interested in obtaining non-tenure track teaching positions within the CSU Early Childhood Center working with young children between the ages of 6 weeks to 6 years. ECC teachers adhere to the mission, policies, and procedures of the ECC as well as State of Colorado licensing requirements and NAEYC accreditation standards while implementing a Reggio Emilia-inspired approach.
These are full-time,12-month appointments with competitive salaries and full benefits including health insurance, paid vacations, and 9 free credits of CSU tuition per year. The role of a Classroom Teacher is to work with a Mentor Teacher to provide management of the classroom and guidance of Assistant Teachers. The role of a Mentor Teacher is to provide management of the classroom, supervision of intern and practicum students, and guidance of Classroom Teachers and Assistant Teachers.
Required Job Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline OR, will have a bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline by the hire date OR, a bachelor's degree in any field plus two years of related experience, OR, have an Early Childhood Teacher ( ECT ) qualification, with a minimum of 1 year experience in a Reggio Emilia Inspired Early Childhood Setting.

The School Aide is an individual who works with studentsrequiring instructional, and/or behavioral assistance under the supervision ofthe special education department, teacher and/or supervising designee. The School Aide may also provide supportservices to assist students with personal, physical mobility and therapeuticcare needs, as established by a rehabilitation health practitioner, socialworker or other health care professional.

Job Description: As a School BehaviorTechnician, you will play a crucial role in facilitating educational andbehavioral services for children and adults with special needs. You willcollaborate with school professionals and other behavioral specialists toachieve learning and behavioral goals and objectives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Implement behavior management techniques, including prevention, intervention, and consequence strategies.
+ Provide crisis intervention and support.
+ Review and implement behavior intervention plans.
+ Assist in facilitating academic instruction and development plans for speech-language pathology (SLP), occupational therapy (OT), and physical therapy (PT).
+ Document sessions per policies and procedures.
+ Collect behavioral and academic data accurately and efficiently.
+ Support students in developing independent daily living skills, such as toileting, clothing routines, and personal hygiene.
+ Assist students across various environments (classroom, playground, lunchroom, gym, sensory room, library, etc.).
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Two years of pediatric experience preferred.
+ Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice.
+ Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program.
+ Current CPR certification, TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray, and health certificate as required.
