The developing Physician Assistant (PA) Program at Pepperdine University seeks a candidate to serve in a full-time staff appointment as the Director of Clinical Education role for its graduate program, the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. The director of clinical education has primary responsibility for the development, coordination, and evaluation of supervised clinical practice experiences. The director of clinical education ensures all clinical rotations meet the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) accreditation standards and prepare students for clinical practice.
Duties
- Develop and maintain clinical site agreements and preceptor relationships.
- Coordinate student clinical rotations and schedules across all clinical sites.
- Monitor and evaluate clinical sites for quality, effectiveness and compliance with ARC-PA standards.
- Provide support for clinical preceptor training, support, and engagement.
- Support document organization of student performance and progress during clinical rotations.
- Address and resolve clinical education issues in collaboration with faculty and preceptors.
- Coordinate site visits for student review and preceptor recruitment.
- Identify, establish, and sustain clinical partnerships aligned with program outcomes and accreditation standards.
- Contribute to the program's continuous quality improvement, including curriculum integration and alignment with current PA practice standards.
- Participate in student recruitment, application review, and the admissions process.
- Support all phases of the program's accreditation including evaluating the program, development of the self-study, and preparation for site visits.
- Participate in the development, review and revision of the program's mission statement, goals, and competencies.
- Support review of the PA program's handbooks and manuals.
- Serve on program and university committees and engage in service activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Uphold University mission through work performed.
Required
Skills and Qualifications
- A Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum of two years of experience in PA or health related education.
- Demonstrated commitment to student success.

- Commitment to the highest moral, ethical, and academic standards.
- The skill to develop relationships of trust across a wide range of internal and external constituents.

- Experience developing and coordinating student clinical education experiences.
- Familiarity with PA accreditation.
- A Masters degree in a related field.

Expected Pay Range: $90,000 - $20,000 per year
The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.

The Department of Physical Therapy offers the Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and features the unique Problem Based Learning curricular model which has been successful in producing graduates with exceptional abilities for critical analysis, problem solving, communication and proactive involvement in healthcare. The local, regional and international service learning component of the curriculum in another highlight adding to the attributes of this program and making it a national model. This involves securing clinical sites, placing students in those sites, online and face to face teaching of subjects related to the practice of physical therapy and clinical education, and evaluating and giving feedback to both the students and the clinical instructors with whom the students were placed.
- Teach the Physical Therapy curriculum within the Physical Therapy Program.
- Participate in APTA Conferences, university service, Physical Therapy faculty meetings, retreats, and other departmental activities including participation in department decision making process.
- Mentor academic advisees and research advisees.
- Evaluate students to determine entry-level proficiency to proceed with clinical education experience.
- Archive student documents necessary for education assignments, ascertaining that students submit all documents in a timely manner.
Doctoral Degree (Ph. D., Ed. D., D. Sc, and DPT) or have a formal plan in place for the acquisition of said degree. An academic doctorate is preferred.
Must be licensed in PT and have two years of work experience. Experience as a clinical instructor is desirable.
Licensed or eligible for licensure as a PT in West Virginia. Expertise in neurological rehabilitation preferred.

Job Summary and Qualifications
The Clinical Education Coordinator is responsible for organizing, directing and implementing an infrastructure for a systems approach to the market's Clinical Education Service Line. The Clinical Education Coordinator performs various management functions, including data entry, routine database maintenance, and standard report generation, verification and distribution, as well as support activities related to classroom coordination, registration oversight, documentation of participation, scheduling, and procurement of teaching materials. The Clinical Education Coordinator also serves as the market's HealthStream administrator.
In this role you will:
+ Coordinates the day-to-day operations of market Clinical Education Service Line, including coordinating nursing student placement and schedules and facilitating communication with clinical education employees. Seeks and implements strategies for operational improvement.
+ Supports clinical educators in scheduling classes, and ensures scheduled classes are properly set up with applicable education materials and equipment.

+ Education: Minimum qualification of an MSN, or a BSN with at least two (2) years' experience in clinical education, with nursing background and knowledge that includes an understanding of the educational objectives and experiences of student nurses, an understanding of the clinical practice of nursing, knowledge of the diverse organizational environments in which nurses practice, and knowledge of the types of clinical sites needed to meet course content and objectives.
+ Unencumbered Licensure: Applicable state as a Registered Nurse.
+ Special Qualifications: At least two (2) years of recent clinical experience, excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, strong oral and written communication skills, ability to interpret learning experience needs of students and match them to the capabilities of clinical placement agencies, excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to be creative and innovative, and proficient computer skills in order to collect and analyze data. Must agree to obtain CNEcl certification within one (1) year of acceptance of position.
+ Outside Relationships: Clinical facilities, professional organizations.
+ Degree of Supervision Required: Minimal.
